A Portland classic, you’ll get a beautiful meal and the wine to match at this cozy SE Division favorite. I love the roast chicken and savory fish stew, especially on a cold drizzly winter’s eve. Happy hour is one of the best around--it’s M-F from 5-6pm, so try to get there early so you can get a couple of rounds in.

This sexy neighborhood restaurant-meets-wine-bar offers up European class & unassuming high-style. Head in for a late-night weekend burger & vieux carre.
Nice addition to the neighborhood. We finally made it to Bar Avignon. It was overall a nice experience and we will definitely go back. Just a few negative notes - although we had already spent nearly $70 on food and wine we were charged $3 when we asked for some bread (we had ordered the clams, which were delicious but came with two measly slices of bread). That's just irritating. This is probably just inexperience, but our server brought the check when we declined dessert without asking us if we wanted anything else. We were prepared to settle in with additional wine, but opted to leave when the bill appeared (and there were plenty of empty tables).
Southeast Division Street wine bar creates a destination for oenophiles on Portland's Eastside.. With its cavernous dining room and cement floors, this chocolate and baby blue wine bar feels a bit like a garage, albeit one dressed up with an ample wood-topped bar and cluster of baquettes. On bar stools and tucked into booths, tattooed, flannel-wearing Eastsiders and a sophisticated set from across the river thirst for bottles from the international wine list. To complement the well-curated list, meat and cheese boards and paprika-spiced hazelnuts act as snacking fare; more substantial offerings like a warm panino sandwich also show up on the menu. For dessert, there's dark chocolate cake sauced with bourbon caramel.
Great wines, great food, romantic atmosphere. My husband and I really enjoyed this new place. It is an awesome spot for a date and for focusing in on a great bottle of wine and some tasty foods that go along with it. The service was impeccable, staff friendly and the food local, fresh and delicious. We're definitely going back!
