With the current popularity of karaoke in the West it's easy to forget karaoke's eastern roots--Voicebox sends you back to Japan. Grab some sake from the bar and head into a karaoke booth sans DJ (you program the songs) and sing your heart out, out of key.

Voicebox is an octave above many other karaoke joints with your own designated room that comfortable accommodates 25 people, you control the music, disco ball and tamborine's to add harmony and pizzazz! All the makings for a perfect pitch evening.
I Have to Try This Place. Reviews are worth their words! I am very impressed with what I have read and amazed that the owner reads them too. Thanks to these reviews and the owner's involvement, Voice Box Lounge will be the place for my son's college grad party!
Best Karaoke In The Western World.
Voicebox is great because you can chill with you buds in your own room and be as serious or goofy as you want. If you want croon Unchained Melody (my favorite) or try rapping, there's no pressure to be good and no crowd judging you. (It's also a great place to get good if you care about such things.)
The song list is extensive and the technology with the remote control and song queuing is awesome. Combine this with the great beers on tap and the friendly staff, Voicebox is the best karaoke lounge I've seen this side of Asia.
A Must Do When Visiting Portland.
Voicebox was our best night during our Portland vist. Our reservation for our party room was spot on. The bartender as well as our server couldn't me more accommodating and personable. We sang and sang some more, all in the privacy of our party (fabulous for us shy singers). As soon as we walked into the lounge, we knew we were in for a great night. The fantastic Pander Brothers murals, warm lighting, inviting bar (great selections of sake and beer), clean and urban decor, set just the right mood.
The snacks were delicious and plentiful, the prices for the room and singing, drinks, and snacks were certainly more than reasonable. Our room was spacious and we were able to sing and dance at the same time, The equipment was easy to use and the song book had so much to choose from.
Scott, the owner, was charming and we knew immediately how much he cares about his customers. We are in Portland every few months and Voicebox will always be a stop. If you are local you are very lucky and if you are from out of town, get ready for some fun.
Starring...you!. There are movies, nightclubs, concerts, bowling, but getting people together to karaoke in a private room is something just a bit different. You really don't know someone until you've heard them sing. And for people like me that probably wouldn't karaoke in a bar, it's a great way to experience this form of entertainment. If you think you would NEVER sing on a microphone in front of people, I promise you will at Voicebox.
Wouldn't Reccomend. Didn’t have a good experience the first and only time we went to the VoiceBox. When we got there 5 minutes before our reservation we were unapologetically told by the super rude woman at the front counter there was another group in the large room we had reserved and we were being moved to a smaller room. They didn’t have the first two beers I ordered off the menu. It took 15 more minutes for the waiter (who was really pretty nice) to show up in the room and explain how to work the system. The extra seating we were told would be brought in to make the smaller room more usable never showed. I was really disappointed overall and wouldn’t recommend.
Hey BambiBubbles, This is Scott here, the owner of Voicebox. I'm very saddened to hear of your unpleasant experience. Fantastic!!. This place was absolutely amazing. We walked in with a group of six tonight at about 8 with no reservation and no idea what we were getting ourselves into. My face hurts so much from laughing and smiling from the spectacular night I just had. The sweet blonde waitress we had (I wish I had caught her name she was just so nice) nice, knowledgeable, and was on top of keeping our glasses full and letting us know when we were hitting our hour marks. It may be 7 bucks a head per hour but really, the privacy, hilarity and great beer selection made up for that 200%. I can't wait to go back.
lots of fun for a special occasion.
We went here with a large group for a birthday party and we had the greatest time. There are private rooms for 10 --20 people where you make a karaokey playlist using the TV remote and a waitress comes in and out to serve drinks and snacks.
I don't usually enjoy karaokey but maybe that is because usually you have to sit through songs by drunken strangers and weirdos ---- this was different because it was just our private group and we had our room and our song choices all to our selves.
Just like bowling or other novelty group outings the price (per person per hour) can add up very quickly but overall it was a great choice for a birthday party.
Great place all around.
I've been to this place a couple times and absolutely love it. With the private rooms, it's always your turn to sing, and also helps remove some of the pressure of normal karaoke since you don't have to sing in front of an audience of strangers. If you are the performing type, however, you can of course still go all-out and perform for your group of friends.
The decor is totally hip and stylish-- great lighting, colors, and beautiful wood bar and seats, plus Anime-inspired artwork on the walls. Great ambience. Good drink selection, including a delicious wheat beer from Japan, and yummy food, including homemade dumplings. Great staff and service, too.
Overall, I definitely recommend checking this place out.
A great time with friends. Spent a Friday night with some buddies at voicebox and had a great time. Service was good and I sang my heart out and danced with a bunch of friends. The stylish atmosphere made it way nicer than the places in Beaverton. The beer/wine list is a little too "specialty" for my taste but they have some great sakes, nice karaoke equipment, and a really cute waitress.
