Throwback to the local grocery store w/ organic bonus points.
Full disclosure: I live nearby.
But I love going here. I know the owner and most of the people who work there and they know my name and keep me informed of stuff they think I'll like. They know I'm a fan of stouts, cool wine labels, and red bell peppers so they give me the head nod when I walk in.
It's a great place to get your produce because it's local and organic and really no more expensive than Safeway (their main competition 3 blocks away). The $1 day-old bread bin is good early in the day and they almost always have homemade pre-made daily fresh meals ready (if you get there early enough).
It's a small store, but I like having less options than a big grocery store because it really cuts down on my deciding time.
I'm a fan and I love that I can support a local family-owned business (you'll see the kids of the owners there).

Little GREAT Grocer.
As far as I'm concerned, The Little Green Grocer is the star of my neighborhood. The owners and staff are sincere and helpful, they have good morals and good taste. Need I say more?

Family-owned urban grocer redefines the convenience store concept around local, organic and sustainable products..
In Short
This sun-streaked, yellow-walled space creates a cheerful destination for household shopping at the base of the Sitka apartments. Neighborhood residents come by at all hours to restock their pantries with fresh produce, fine cheeses, and hearty baked goods, while nearby office workers fuel up at lunch with the shop's selection of gourmet sandwiches, soups, and salads. There's even gift-appropriate items including wines, cookbooks and chocolates, and a few well edited shelves of household supplies and toiletries.
