Portland >Kenny & Zuke's Sandwichworks
One of only 2 boiled bagel spots in town! The lady staff members aren't particularly friendly but the jovial guys in back make it feel pretty comfortable. They keep the creamer in the fridge next to the cashier line so with hot coffee, it's not very convenient and ends up taking awhile for me to go back and forth to get it put back away. Lots of seating, outdoor especially awesome. I will go back all the time for my creamcheeseandlox.yum.
Sandwich-centric shop attracts a casual crowd.. Denim-clad families, suits and skirts on their lunch break and thirtysomething Northwest neighborhood regulars line up at this laid-back deli’s front counter for classic sandwiches sided with kettle chips and pickle wedges. The wood-and-cement framed dining room recalls a public park with its picnic table seating, tin pail napkin holders and garage door that opens to Thurman Street to let the outside in. Diners claim coveted tables to nosh on “all-star” sandwiches like a dense Italian Grinder laced with pepperoncinis or reuben sliders grilled on rye. Somehow, diners find room for dessert, either a walnut fudge brownie, chocolate macaroon or the aptly named Big Cookie.
