Rude Staff: "We like the blonde, fake looking girls here".
It was a "Girls Night" and my friends told me they wanted to try out the new Couture lounge downtown. I hadn't heard of it, but because I love trying out new lounges and clubs in Portland, I was
excited to go.
From the beginning, my experience was not great, to say the least. We were on a friend's VIP list for her birthday and were told if we got there by a certain time we could get right in with no cover. We were one minute late and were told we had to pay and wait. I was frustrated, but since we were indeed late (although by one minute) I decided to let that go.
But then I couldn't let this go: We were waiting in line and a group of girls (hot girls with the bleach blonde, big boobed, skimpy dress thing going) came to the end of the line. The front door man (who hadn't let us get in on the list for being one minute late) told us to stand back to let this group through. He could tell we were frustrated and he rudely said, "We like to have the blonde, faking looking girls here." The girls I were with were all hot - and brunette.
Once inside, it felt subpar. There are a million places like it, without doormen with attitudes. Pricey drinks for a crowded, humid atmosphere. This is an honest review from a club/bar goer who is not associated with this establishment (not a tan republic representative). Thanks!…
Finally... An upscale lounge in PDX. Tan Republic Sponsored.
Great Spot!!!
Ambiance-5 stars!!!
DJ's and Music selections-5 stars
Food-Read in Portland Tribune, Chef of the year for PDX.
Wait Staff-3 1/2 Stars. (When I went my first time they were just getting going and very few knew the menu let alone what alcohols they carried. Since then the staff has changed completely and the bar has been raised.
Great Vibe and still seems to be the #1 spot to chill on a Friday and Saturday night.
Thanks to the Seid family not "Chip" who I found out later isn't an owner at all but one of the construction guys that help do the build out on the place.
I love that Yeyo Tequila and Tan Republic sponsor some of the even evenings there.…
Extremly Disappointed!.
First heard of this place from an owner named Chip... his extreme hyper excitement had caught my curiosity. So, I finally had an opportunity to go. I wanted to entertain some my out-of-town fashion
clients. Unfortunaly, when we got to the door we denied entrance due to some of the attire my friends were wearing. We ended up going to saucebox instead.
Just recently, we decided to give it another go on April 10TH....this time we showed up "dressed accordingly". After waiting in line for over an hour, we finally got in. Which were then greeted my Chip, the owner, who seemed a little tipsy, to say the least. WE walked up to the bar just in time to witness a patron throw up in her glass. YUCK! We were going to eat, but the just ruined it! LOL!
We now have our drinks, but all we can do is stare at each other because the music was SO SO SO loud! We couldnt hold down a conversation at all!
At least we had an extremely entertaining crowd of overtly horny, snotty, bitchy drunken twenty year olds to keep us amused long enough to stomach down our $13 cocktails.
Oh well... NICE TRY CHIP!! Thanks for the invite, but unfortunately not my crowd.…
Posh. I've been 3x so far including the Grand Opening. They have a great select of champagne drinks and the happy hour menu is great. I love the art, 2 bars and they have live music on certain days.
