I had some back tightness, and Dr. Seth
Hosmer has shown me both foam roller techniques as well as stretches to help. He also diagnosed that I need custom insoles, which he will be making for me at a later date. Until I met with Dr. Hosmer, I was only somewhat aware that my back needed work, and I was unaware of the extent of my foot issues.
In the interim, I have followed Seth's suggestion to switch to some insoles with more support, and that has alleviated my foot discomfort. Expert fitter Joe Holcomb joined Seth to adjust my position and to immediately improve my pedal stroke.
Seth works with a variety of people – not just cyclists. But his intimate understanding of the physiological demands of the sport helps Seth to spot problems that others might overlook, and his work has already helped me to improve as an athlete.
Hosmer is much more than Chiropractic.
He has massage therapy in-house - which I was so pleasantly surprised to find is covered by my insurance as physical therapy. His massage therapists use a full complement of techniques to really get at the problem - whether it's lower back muscle pain or tendon issues (wrist and sacrum for me), they know just how to relieve the pain and speed recovery. Pin and stretch, deep tissue and myofascial release are a few of the many techniques his expert techs employ.
And I appreciate the advice Dr. Hosmer and his massage therapists give me about stretches I can do at home, many of which are backed up by his authoritative and well-produced videos on You-tube. He actually writes a newsletter that's useful, not a thinly veiled marketing tool.
I went to Dr. DeVasto at Hosmer for a
Sciatica Nerve issue. He worked out my pain within three visits in a very professional and educational manner.
I really appreciated that he didn't suggest coming back repeatedly, just to make more money for his practice. He seemed to really care about getting me back out on the soccer field and in my gym.
Definitely a Chiropractor I would recommend and continue as a patient.
I recently was injured in an automobile accident. My GP recommended Hosmer Chiropractic. I am sure glad they did. They are in the process of putting me back together again. I am avid biker & Dr. Hosmer can relate to this. He has an enormous amount of skills realigning my musculo-skeletal system. It is amazing what he and his skilled massage therapist can do!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since I started competitive cycling here in Portland I've come to Hosmer Chiropractic for all of my needs. Seth did an amazing job on my bike fit, including finding just the right adjustments for my new shoes and cleats. He also helped me with my chronic hip and lower back issues. My quality of life has greatly improved since coming to Hosmer Chiropractic, I highly recommend them!
I started seeing Dr. Hosmer 8 months ago due to pain in my lower back and my right shoulder. With each injury he was able to diagnose the problem quickly and put a plan in place to make me feel better. He also provided me with foam roller exercises that I am able to do at home on a daily basis. I will continue to see for all of sport of my sport related issues.
I have been going to Hosmer
Chiropractic Health for years now. I initially started seeing Dr. Hosmer for chronic lower back pain. I had never been to a chiropractor before, but the spasms and general pain had gotten in the way of my daily life. I was having a tough time holding my kids, riding my bike, and even sleeping. It was time for me to take control of the pain - and I am glad I went to Dr. Hosmer.
From the moment you walk into the office you are treated very well. The environment is relaxing and is very comfortable. The folks behind the desk are very polite and friendly. I have never been to an appointment that did not start on time.
Dr. Hosmer does great work. He listens to your symptoms then helps alleviate your short term pain. During the session - he tells you exactly what he is doing and is more than happy to show you a model of a spine or hip joint, etc, to further illustrate. Once done - he often leads you through stretches/techniques to work on at home. This way you are part of the long term management of the pain.
I wish I had not waited so long to go in. My life is definitely better because of Hosmer Chiropractic Health.
I am very physical active, both at work
and in sports and exercise. Over the past 18 months, I started getting a tingling sensation in the pinky finger of my right hand, and through the months, lack of sensation and strength was growing through my pinky finger and adjacent middle finger. My neck was also starting to hurt a lot over the course of the year. As both ailments continued to progress, I became extremely concerned.
I reached out to friends for advice on medical help which led me to Dr Seth Hosmer.
I was immediately impressed by the professionalism of his office staff. Furthermore, even though I had sought medical attention for other sports injuries in the past, I realized that Dr Seth was different. During examination, at times he seemed to spot what areas where I felt the most tension and pain without me specifically telling him. He seemed to have a grasp on what and where medical attention was needed. Through his treatments over the course of several weeks, sensation and feeling started coming back in my right hand. Also, my neck pain generally abated after years of tension.
Also, since 2007 I have suffered from acute form of tinnitus which I have been told medically there is nothing that can be done. Acceptance was part of the therapy and over the years, I began to accept this affliction. However recently, after several weeks with Dr Seth Hosmer , I noticed one night that the constant ringing of my tinnitus was gone. This quiet time lasted for only 3 hours, but it has given me hope. I am not saying that chiropractic treatment can cure tinnitus, but I do believe there can be side benefits from treatment. And honestly, for the first time in years, many of my afflictions that I just dealt with over the years are just starting to go away.
Dr Hosmer is also comprehensive in his treatment: I do stretches and other physical exercises that he recommends. Also, his technique is more dynamic in comparison to other chiropractors. He doesn’t just adjust your spine. He asks detailed intelligent questions regarding your ailments, and many aspects of his treatment are in the form of mild and more advanced stretching. He also has in-house physical message therapist, which get involved with trigger point therapy, which has helped a lot.
The bottom line is: I am pleased with the results, and Dr Hosmer has delivered them.
If you are looking for a good chiropractor: I suggest saving your time and money endlessly searching, because through my experience, Dr Seth Hosmer is one of the best that Portland has to offer.
I have been to Hosmer Chiropractic twice now for some SI joint and hip issues that have been ongoing for a about a year. My PCP had recommended that I start getting regular deep tissue work to keep the issues at bay. I went to Hosmer Chiropractic based on a recommendation from someone I used to work with. During both visits I was seen by Dr. DeVasto who was very attentive to the issues I was having and was able to do some adjustments to allow me to keep running pain free. The second visit I also had some deep tissue work done. I am very impressed with the staff there and look forward to returning in the future for massage as well as for any injuries I may experience.
