When you're new to an area it's always
difficult to trust someone new with your pet, especially if you don't have family or friend’s reviews to go on. I took my cat into Murrayhill Veterinary Hospital for an emergency visit a few months back based solely on internet reviews. They were booked solid, but they said they always make time for emergencies. I'm so glad they do!
My cat all of a sudden started acting lethargic and was having difficulty breathing. They checked her in and admitted her right away. Little did I know that she was dangerously ill. Her heart was extremely enlarged and she had fluid in her lungs. Dr. Zawadzki and I discussed her thoughts and concerns and decided on a plan of action for Sam. Later that day she called me with the test results. Sam was very sick, but they were able to get her stable, explain everything to me clearly, and walk me step by step toward getting her better. In Sam's case, they referred me to local cardiologist who confirmed Dr. Zawadzki's prognosis. During my cat’s lengthy recovery, the whole staff at Murrayhill Vet have been so helpful. They work seamlessly with the cardiologist, answer any questions I have, and Dr. Zawadzki has spent a considerable amount of time on the phone with me. Even just calling to check up on Sam!
I know that my cat is in good hands there, and I truly believe that they care deeply for the animals they treat. Their facility is very nice, clean, and a relaxed environment for pets. They even gave me a significant price break on my cat's initial emergency visit, even though they didn't have to. I never had a bad experience at my old vet, but I really think that Murryhill is setting a new standard. I couldn't be happier! After all, what more can you ask from a veterinarian than to treat your pet like they would treat their own? Thank you again Dr. Zawadzki and staff. You ALL are amazing!
We recently moved to the area and
needed a vet to care for our dog. She had been previously diagnosed with hip issues with the results being very obvious even to the untrained eye. We used this review page to make our decision.
The decision turned out poorly. Our pet was in the final stages when we brought her to Murrayhill hoping for a refill on her medication. The treatment plan was far in excess of a normal workup, included multiple tests and x-rays, to the tune of $900+. Every time we visited the vet for more meds the same scenario, more potential tests to define the obvious. If you consider your pet as a profit center as opposed to a family member this will work out fine.
Sadly the “final trip” came to pass. We had planned for this for some time. We were prepared as best as we could be. Simple wishes were expressed to the staff. Every detail was ignored. A very bad day was pushed to the worst.
Ultimately your pet will probably receive proper medical care. Be cautious of decisions based on greed vs. compassionate care. Beware of the clinics insensitivity. Keep reading and look elsewhere.
Wouldn't go anywhere else!. My dogs, cat and I started with Murrayhill 17 years ago! Yikes! Dr Goodman is the absolute best!! However, a bee issue with my Boxer a few years ago introduced me to almost ALL of the veterinarians there, and I have nothing but the highest regard for them. Even though I have moved farther away, I still take the time and drive the distance to go to Murrayhill. I feel absolutely confident in their care of my pets, and I LOVE the receptionist, Helen. She is a kick!!! If you have a choice-go to Murrayhill!
Dr. Goodman is simply the best. Laird Goodman in not only a superb verterinarian, but the kindest and most compassionate medical provider (for animals or humans) I have ever known. The care he provided over the years for my beloved elderly and chronically ill cat was truly a godsend. If not for Dr. Goodman, the time my cat and I had together would have been unnecesacarily cut short.
Dr. Zawadzki made our English Bulldog smile!!!. Our bulldog always had dental dilemmas but one day, Budgy woke up and it was evident that he was in a world of hurt. We were quite concerned so we automatically contacted Murrayhill Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Zawadzki made time to see Budgy in her already booked schedule. She thoroughly assessed Budgy and determined several of his teeth were severely infected; surgery was needed as soon as possible to remedy the Budge-man. Following the appointment, we were still worried about our baby's ongoing lethargy and were scared that Budgy might not make it overnight (before the surgery). We again contacted Murrayhill with this fear, and Dr. Zawadzki volunteered to see Budgy past office hours without reservation. She and the team at Murrayhill were able to perform the surgery on the following morning. The staff performed phenomenal repair to Budgy's teeth and they even called me with updates throughout the surgery. Dr. Zawadzki not only saved Budgy's life, but she also provided much-needed emotional support to us during this event. We're so thankful to have such an outstanding hospital that takes care of our bulldog and genuinely cares about animals, as well as their owners.
STOP SEARCHING!.
STOP looking! You don't know us, but I assure you, we are picky. We work in healthcare and have a vet in our own family (lives out of state) so we've heard all the horror stories... and believe me when I tell you we get very serious about how important finding the right vet practice can be. In short: it doesn't get any better than this! EVERY person we've recommended this clinic to has come back to thank us - because yes, they are that much better! Go to their website and read about how differently they handle surgeries... you'll be surprised and relieved!
Need our personal examples?
Two important examples for you, first a sad one, then a happy one...
1) Our beloved dog Lily, lived for 14+ years, and the night we had to say goodbye to her was more horribly hard than I can say. Laird Goodman DVM was our primary vet for Lily, and as the evening closing time drew near, it became clear that Lily was maybe not going to make it. Dr. Goodman, despite having worked a very long day, stayed in that office with us until midnight. He just kept telling us not to rush to a decision and that he would be close by in his office but give us privacy to talk and be with Lily... He was generous and compassionate, and very wise. He was who you would want if you ever had to face such a decision... and so we finally did this last kindness for Lily in letting her go. A week or so later, a card came from the vet office with hand-signed personal notes from most everyone at the clinic who had known Lily over the years, along with a garden stone that had her name engraved on it. Need I say more on this example of compassion?
2) Now a couple of years later, we welcomed 2 new puppies into our family, and they have just turned 1 year old and are healthy now, BUT when younger, they had every manner of mysterious unpredictable health mystery... the drama was weekly if not daily. At each turn, these seasoned vets (Primarily we see Dr. Goodman and Dr. Chea Hall) went above and beyond in every way to make things right. ALWAYS taking the time to answer our questions, educating us, searching out the latest research rather than just doing "standard" protocols like many vets do... and we now have two healthy and happy young dogs as a result. Further, their front desk staff and techs all treat us with compassion and complete consideration. If only clinics treating humans worked like this!
At every turn, this team do go above and beyond and really give the best in medicine and caring. I can't recommend them enough!
The *BEST* veterinary care *EVER*.
My beloved baby, Fred, started to to act differently. He just wasn't himself. I was an emotional wreck. My husband and I called the clinic after I got off of work and they were going to close in an hour. That didn't matter. They were totally booked, but insisted that I brought my baby in right away...they would fit him in and take care of him. The staff were so pleasant, on the phone and in person. The clinic is spotless clean and very accomodating.
Dr. Goodman is so amazing! He has so much compassion towards his patients and their families. I never felt like a number to him or his staff. They really cared about my Freddie. Every procedure they needed to do to find out was wrong with my baby was explained to me in great detail. Dr. Goodman and his staff stayed well beyond closing to make sure Fred was taken care of and I didn't feel like we were imposing at all. They were supposed to close at 7pm, but we were there until 8:40pm.
Dr. Goodman called me the next day to give me the results of all of Fred's tests. He was just as pleasant on the phone as he was in person. He gave me the results he had and was determined to get some questions answered before he called me again the next day.
Dr. Goodman and his staff are kind, warm, and compassionate. I will continue to take my Fred and, my other baby, Daisy, there for all future vet visits.
This has been the *BEST* vet I have *ever* been to. You will not be disappointed. Thank you and bless you, Dr. Goodmand and the staff at Murrayhill Vet Hospital!

DR. Goodman and the Gals are the best!.
My 15 year old black lab Mr. Rockford swallowed a sock last year around the Super Bowl, but we did not know it at the time. Dr. Goodman was so thorough and thoughtful during the whole process carefully ruling on Mr. Rockford's deteriorating condition. The clinic treated my dear old dog and nursed him back into a condition where he could at least discharge his obstruction without a traumatizing surgery. Rockford has made a miraculous recovery and I can recommend this clinic and Dr. Goodman to anyone. The Gals are thoughtful and courteous, for they go out of their way to help. 20 years of dedicated service to animals and this community are proof that Dr. Goodman and the Murray Hill Veterinary Hospital know what they are doing. Dr. Goodman is a good bloke as well. Cheers!
Update 10/23/2010:
Rockford is still kicking along thanks to the great care and determination of the staff at Murray Hill Vet. I can not think of another clinic that could be better than Dr. Goodman's at Murray Hill. They really care about your animals. Thanks again Laird.
Best Veterinary Practice Around!.
If you want the best care for your companion animals, you will go to the Murrayhill Veterinary Hospital in Beaverton, Oregon. I have often said I wish that my own doctors were as caring, competent, and patient as the veterinarians at Murrayhill Veterinary Hospital. My dog has many serious conditions and has survived lung cancer (for almost 5 years now!), heart murmur, arthritis, kidney and liver disease. I have gotten to know all of the vets at Murrayhill and they are all outstanding. I know my dog is in great hands with all of them and, most importantly, I trust their judgment. Their medical procedures and equipment are state-of-the-art. They take special precautions to minimize the risk of complications when they do surgical procedures. They also spend time with me so I understand the procedures and risks of all procedures so I can make the best choice for my dog.
Every member of the hospital including vet technicians, kennel technicians, office management staff, and groomers are also superior in all respects. They are thoughtful, intelligent, very careful with record keeping (which is critically important when an animal has a complicated set of health conditions to manage), accommodating, cheerful, and NEVER make me feel that my requests are excessive. And, believe me, my dog gets loving care from every member of the wonderful staff at Murrayhill. I'm tempted to name them all, but I don't want to run the risk of forgetting anyone.
I thank God everyday for what the amazing staff at Murrayhill Veterinary Hospital hasdone to give my dog and I so many wonderful years together. Oh, and if you can't already tell, I recommend them HIGHLY to anyone who loves their animal companion friends and wants the best care for them.
Great service. I take our 2 dogs to Murrayhill vets and they have been awesome with them. Very personable service. I even board them when we go out of town with Murrayhill Vet hospital.
