A lot of people have recommended this place but I don't quite get the appeal. I like making pancakes with the kiddos but we can do that at home and it's cheaper. I also feel for meglpdx and her son. I was stressed out the whole time worrying that my daughter would reach out and touch the hotplate on the table. Pancakes were yummy but not worth the price and stress.…
exceptional service.
I took 6 teenagers for a birthday party, the service, food and atmosphere were perfect. They accommodated special requests without question and took amazing care of us while we were there.
While it's a fun, casual place, the service is better than any upscale restaurant I have ever been to- almost intuitive.
Great drink menu for grown-ups
fun pancake grilling for kids :)…
My 1 year old and 3 year old love this place!!. Country Fried Bacon - need I say more.
Not little kid friendy.
Our son got a serious 2nd degree burn at Slappy Cakes and needed immediate emergency medical attention. He reached for his pancake and in a split second was burned terribly on his hand. This
happened while my husband and I were right there. The tables are not safe at all for little ones.
The server told us they have "never have had a bad burn happen here" and that he was probably just scared. Well obviously after visiting the hospital this was not true. We also cannot believe that this doesn't happen more often.
The food is okay and the idea of making pancakes at the table fun. But the place is really not safe for little hands.…
Stick to the pancakes, Kid..
I usually get there 10 minutes before the door opens on a weekend and I'm not even the first one there! Like IKEA furniture, putting stuff together myself creates a real sense of accomplishment. I
love the notion of bacon in my pancakes one bite, and chocolate chips in the next.
Service is okay, but it doesn't really need to be stellar because we're so busy on the griddle.
I did have their chicken-fried bacon out of curiosity and it was a sad, $10 mistake. Oh well. All else is great, if you can beat the crowds.…
