After living in Portland for over 7 years and bouncing from hairdresser to hairdresser, I happened up on this little gem not a mile from my house. I had been getting the same haircut for years and was ready for something new. Ernest was very open to my thoughts, and gave me his opinion on what kind of cut would look good with the shape of my face. The experience was wonderful, and I haven't gone anywhere since! The cuts, color, and conversation have always been top-notch!

I received a gift for a Brazilian Blowout keratin treatment at HairapyPDX. Ernest is a very experienced and knowledgeable professional who excels at his craft. He keeps himself up to date through continual education and he specializes in organic, toxic free products - which is something that is important to me. Ernest is a honest, no nonsense, highly entertaining and passionate stylist that is dedicated to educating his clients and providing amazing results. I highly recommend Ernest to anyone who appreciates a professional stylist that provides beautiful results with toxic free products and who's integrity shows in everything he does.

You've got to try the organic hair color!. I just LOVE the organic hair color & shampoos and Ernest does such a great job! He knows his stuff!

I was getting sick every time I had my hair colored - the next day was always spent in bed recovering. I thought it was time to give up the color....but then I tried Ernest and his Organic Color System. It's WONDERFUL!

The color is more natural and there are no harmful chemicals to make me sick. It even smells like a food grade product....an interesting blend of chocolate and fennel. And Ernest does such a superb job. The color and cut are perfect! My hair feels glorious. I feel like a beauty queen when I leave. How's that for not only being able to keep covering the grey, but to look and feel so good while doing it!!

You've got to give up the harmful chemicals and give Ernest a try!

Whatever you do, skip this experience. I had an awful experience with Ernest. I did buy his expensive Groupon and he was incredibly unprofessional and tried to shame me into buying the additional products. His "deal" clearly said that his treatment would last many weeks (no mention of spending even more money). To get a feel for his personality, read some of his very unprofessional and frankly disrespectful responses to other clients. If he has deleted some of his comments by the time you are reading this posting, here's a sampling:

"Your obviously full of hate and bitterness. Had u done more research u would have found that everything with natural ingredients have a small amount of occurring formaldehyde. Nature baby. Time to just move on, don't u think?"

And this one from him also: "False clams, or a little girl who didn't get her way? It's clients like u that make all hair stylist want to lock the doors. Stop bringing hate..."

Skip this salon and go with someone who treats everyone with respect. And if you bought a Groupon and had a bad experience, contact them and get your money back.

Message from the OWNER.. Hello amazing people of Portland, Oregon. I would first like to thank you all for your Patronage, and helping me make HairapyPDX Organic Salon a success. I have worked with GROUPON now a couple of times to get exposure for a new Organic keratin smoothing treatment I found back in OCT. 2010. I am aware now that whenever you do these GROUPONS there is about 10% that no matter what you say or do will not like you and write nasty things about you here on Citysearch or Yelp, or anywhere you have a listing where good people can give their reviews on your business. AS you can see this has happened here, and CitySearch believes in not letting us remove them regardless, so I am here to say to the new comers that this is just the way it is, and don't let that detour you from experiencing the REAL HairapyPDX Organic Salon.

WASTE OF MONEY!. Ernest was very nice during the treatment, and my hair looked great at the end of the treatment. When I went to check out he started putting product up on the counter and told me that for my treatment to last 3-4 months that I would HAVE to buy the product! YIKES $185.90! On the KeraGreen website, it says it WILL last 3-4 months on chemically treated hair, which mine is.Ernest's Groupon says that product is not included in the treatment. I’ve been using an, Organic Sulfite Free shampoo and conditioner and a Keratin conditioner I bought at a different location for much less and still… my hair is back to it’s frizzy self within 2 weeks. What a waste of $150. Don’t do it unless you have a special occasion and you have the money to WASTE. I feel ripped off.

Ripped Off. The extra charges just kept piling on. And yeah, you don't 'have' to buy them, but you won't get the results you want, so that really doesn't leave you much choice.

Color your world with Ernest!. It is so amazing to get the perfect color and then to have it be organic! He also cuts your hair exactly the way you ask him to.....and he is always on time......you never wait for him. And he gives you quality tea or coffee! My best friend just came to visit and said that my hair has never looked better and that I look way younger........so unless you are perfectly satisfied with your present hairdresser and they aren't using harmful chemicals, you really ought to give him a try!
