Portland >Bar Bar at Mississippi Studios
They had me at homemade buns, and now I lie in bed every night thinking about them. The massive patio is a stellar spot for people watching.
Delicious burgers and fries. Awesome back patio and if you're into concerts they have quite a few and they are lower key/fun and not too crowded.
Their outdoor patio is huge and indoor space can be cramped if there's a show at Mississippi Studios next door. The fries are particularly good and I like to hang out by the fire and meet new people. They show films and are open late. It can be loud, but that's part of its charm.
Bad overpriced food, bad hipster attitude.. We ordered a vegan hamburger (no fries or any sides included) for $7 that tasted bland and was the size (and about the same flavor) of a white castle microwavable hamburger. Yes, it was vegan, but I've had better vegan food in Birmingham, Alabama. The door girl at the venue had a terrible "better than you" attitude and ignored us for several minutes after we walked up to her. When we finally got into the venue the sound system sounded as if all the speakers were blown and was cranked way beyond what was appropriate for the small space. I will never return to this venue for a show, drink, meal, or to use their dirty bathrooms. There are so many better places to see a show or eat in Portland.
