What Our Expert Scouts Are Saying

Boke Bowl
This isn’t your college dorm ramen, though long communal tables and slightly desperate-looking clientele may evoke school days. Rather than worrying about Biology 101 though, these people are fretting over the decision between the three distinctive broths for their heady bowl of noodle soup. Or maybe they're concerned that there won't be enough steamed buns and house made pickles to go around? Relax…with the affordable prices at airy noodle spot you just order more. Bring your buddies by on Thursdays for the Korean family-style whole fried chicken (or tofu) dinner.

I don't know what's more lovable at this bustling ramen restaurant, the tasty food or the delightful owners, but either way, it's a hit. Love the Brussels sprouts salad and the miso black cod ramen, and of course, the housemade twinkies. Go Thursday nights for the Korean Fried Chicken, aka Boke Bird.

Knock elbows with a smaller crowd by arriving before 6pm. Add slow-poached eggs, pork belly, or fried chicken. Don't forget a miso butterscotch Twinkie.

The sidewalk along Water Avenue is vacant because everyone and their foodie cousin are inside Boke, wrapping their chopsticks around tendrils of tasty ramen. Order before you seat yourself, or you'll be waiting for a while.

Ramen hot spot with a feel-good vibe. The under-the-radar must-have? The seasonal veggie salad (Brussles in winter, broccoli in summer) is even better than the ramen!

Ah for pete sakes, how do you jump up and down raving about a place on a web site review??

Anyone who has read a write up on Boke knows the fried chicken scores crazy high points. I will agree- dont miss it!!!

The roasted brussel sprouts and cauliflower- oh my my my myyyyyyy. Never have I had the mix of flavors put together in this dish. SUPERB.

My normal order is a side of chicken and the roasted vegs. (plentyyy for two to share)

I brought a major foodie friend here for lunch a couple of weeks ago and BOKE did not let me down. We had a fabulous lunch causing my friend to wish he lived in Portland. Wanting to move for a resturant is a high grade!

This is the kind of attention to detail and gutsy cooking many a resturant should stretch out and try.
