What Our Expert Scouts Are Saying
When acclaimed chef Anthony Demes last sculpted gourmet towers in Portland at the sophisticated Frenchie eatery Couvron, the dining culture here was still in a phase of “risotto? That’s that rice you have to stir forever right?” But after wielding his knives in the Big Apple for a while, Demes has returned to Portlandia, hoping we’re now ready for a frequently-changing, multi-morsel tasting menu concept. The exquisite food comes with an exorbitant price tag but they throw in white tablecloths, glittery chandeliers and fodder for weeks of foodie chat.
This jewel box of a French restaurant
offers true white-table cloth service with a modern twist. The 8-course tasting menu is an adventure and the wine list is geeky in a good way. Awesome Grand Marnier souffle.
