The whiskey selection is heavy on the bourbon at Old Gold--no complaints here. The sandwiches are stellar, especially the bahn mi and grilled cheese. Old Gold is crowded during happy hour but tends to thin out as the night goes on.

If the bar had a dating profile it would read, "Sophisticated yet fun!" (A champagne call button, yet Rip City glasses during Blazers games.)

New North Portland bar with a lot of charm, due mainly to their attentive bartender. They have a huge scotch list, but I got a BFK (Baileyâ??s, Frangelico and Kahlua in coffee) and he initially put 151 in it. It was too strong for me but he remade it with a smile. Itâ??s a great locals place, refined but not snooty.
