Cibo

If conversation lags during a visit to Cibo, the full-on view of the entry to the Oregon Theater--where Portlanders went for er, adult only kicks, pre-Internet--should perk things up. But the street traffic is far from the only attraction at this new Italian cafe, a casual offshoot of Northwest Portland's long-beloved Bastas. The striking modern industrial design gets warmed up with plenty of wood and a comfortable bar (cocktails, interesting wine and several micros on tap) dominates the family-friendly space. The stripped-down menu features thin pizzas from a wood-fired oven (including some mushy gluten free "pizzas" called cecina made from chickpea flour), a few seasonal salads and entrees.
