Sometimes you just want something simple and Boxer Sushi can make that happen. Local restaurant impresario, Micah Camden (Little Big Burger, D.O.C. Yakuza) is delivering a straight up sushi bar specializing in the good stuff: fish and rice. Forget attempting to decipher why a Philadelphia roll is called a Philadelphia roll, and why you would want cream cheese in your sushi to begin with, this is simple, man. It’s nigiri and sashimi, beautifully prepared, with none of the edamame, tempura or gyoza to distract and derail.

Occupying a sleek and sexy little space right off SE Hawthorne, this is a great date night destination for sushi savants willing to splurge a bit. If you're feeling adventurous, opt for the omakase.

Hip decor meets minimalist menu and extensive whiskey selection. Pricey and a bit slow, but each plate is a work of art. Oregon albacore is a sure bet.

As a lover of sushi, Boxer sushi is not only fresh - but their menu is simple, their chefs are super cool (and sometimes give you complimentary taste-tests). The menu is not too-complicated, but I would caution it is a bit pricey :)
