Perched atop SE Belmont at 68th Avenue, this cheerily stylish little Mt. Tabor eatery dishes up three squares most days starting not long after sunup, making it the ideal spot for your first morning coffee, a hearty brunch after a hike through nearby Mt. Tabor Park, or a relaxed dinner with friends. At happy hour, claim your spot at the four-stool bar, which is surprisingly well-stocked for its size—rest easy that if you were somehow quarantined in the dining room for an indeterminable period of time, you’d be fine for vodka tonics at least until Christmas.

It feels like you have stumbled upon a hidden gem when you make your way to Songbird Cafe. At the base of Mt Tabor sweetly sits this pocket sized cafe that is jammed packed full of freshness and flavor. The chicken tarragon sandwich, sweet potato fries and spicy potato corn soup of the day was amazing! The service was attentive and the seating was comfortable. The bathroom is decorated with songbird wallpaper and piped in bird tweets - lovely.

This corner of residential Mt. Tabor was meant to be a cafe, and Songbird meets pretty much any dining needs the neighborhood has--opening early to pour coffee, serving lunch and happy hour Tu-Sa, and of course, dishing up Sunday brunch without the knarly lines of some of its down-the-hill brethren. Great soups and salads!
