Letter of concern for you management!.
To Kim Graham, General Manager, The Rock Wood Fire Pizza,
Dear Ms. Graham,
I'm deeply sorry I have to send this type of letter, as my family has enjoyed your restaurant numerous times in the past. The food is great and the customer service has usually been top notch.
However, as of yesterday we will no longer be frequenting your establishment, and neither will our close friends. We were appalled at the rude, inconsiderate behavior of one of your managers who was on duty yesterday afternoon, October 18th.
My brother-in-law had decided that he wanted to apply at The Rock because of the good past experiences he's had there. He printed and filled out an application, prior to showing up, and came by to drop it off at 4pm yesterday afternoon. He spoke with your hostess, who was very nice and helpful, and she asked the manager to come up and meet him. The manager comes out and she says "this gentleman would like to turn in his application", after which the manager says "no...i don't think so...i only accept applications between 2-4 - its 4:03 so I won't accept it" Andy, thinking he is joking looks at his watch and says "well my watch only shows 3:59" the manager says "no I won't take it...you need to come back tomorrow"
The first thing I see that is wrong in this situation, is that there is nowhere on your website, or on the application, that states that applications must be dropped off between 2 and 4pm, because if there had been Andy wouldn't have shown up that day, he would have waited until today to drop it off. The second thing that is so clearly wrong with this whole ordeal, is that this manager obviously had no feelings towards how hard it is to find a job in this economy. Here is a wonderfully hard working man, who is attending flight school and needs a part-time job to help support his family, and all he is trying to do is get an interview. It would have been easy to take the ALREADY FILLED OUT application and say thank you and return to his office. Instead, he felt the need to completely disregard Andy's interest in working for the company. I would think it would be a compliment that a frequent customer likes the business enough to try and work there.
I have worked in the customer service field for 11 years, from dishwasher to waitress to General Manager. I know how hard it is to find good, trustworthy, honest and hard working employees, and I took every opportunity to make sure that anyone who comes in the doors of my establishments felt wanted and thanked for taking the time out of their schedules and the money out of their pockets to buy our food and hang out in our business. I would imagine that your business would strive hard to make sure that your managers feel that passionate about the customers who give you your livelihoods.
I hope that you take this letter in the tone that it was intended, and check into this situation. We both know that in our business it is all about word of mouth, and bad reviews spread faster than good ones. From now on my family will be finding a more considerate venue to spend our hard earned money.
Thank you for your time!
