What Our Expert Scouts Are Saying
As international comfort foods go, few rival the pupusa—an ultra-satisfying masa pancake stuffed and studded with everything from fruit to flowers. At Pupuseria El Buen Gusto’s new NE Sandy outpost, standard models include the cheese and loroco flower, chicharron, and guanaca, all served with traditional accoutrements—a thin tomato salsa and curtido, a fermented cabbage and chile slaw. If you aren’t feeling the Salvadoran vibe, fear not, the menu generously offers Mexican, Guatemalen, Colombian and Nicaraguan classics as well.

You'll smell like a fried masa cake
after you leave this cheery Sandy Blvd hole-in-the-wall, so wear something that needs to go in the wash anyway. That said, it's totally worth smelling like a masa cake to partake of the steaming hot pork and cheese-stuffed chicharron pupusa, particularly on a dreary winter's eve.
