Portland >Hair of The Dog Brewing Co
Soak up the sunshine on Hair of the Dog's patio with great views of downtown Portland. Taste pale ales and pilsners such as the Ruth and Greg, named after their muses. A perfect answer to the day drinking question, as they close unexpectedly early.
Hidden deep in the inner SE industrial district, this fun spot serves strong, beautifully-crafted beers with straightforward names (I'm fond of Fred, myself). Beware the cumulative effect of the beguiling 3-oz tasters...
If you need proof this is on every visiting beer aficionado's list, notice that every table has a row of 3oz mini goblet tasters lined up. Try whatever's "from the wood"!
Exactly what I want in a brewery & tasting room: nothing fancy, pickles and a flight of beer.
More than a dozen beers, strong and flavourful and each available as a 3oz sample.
Will scotch. get it when available.. My only complaint you say???? It needs a larger glass. Next best thing to coldsmoke from Kettlehouse in Missoula, MT
If there are any "From the Wood" beers on tap get it. The brisket here is amazingly delicious.
There are many great breweries in Portland. This is not one of them. Overrated and cold.
Extremely great Blue Dot IPA here. Just get it and enjoy it!
Great hearty beer! I suggest not committing to a full 12oz the first visit; get the sampler "Walk the Dog" or several 3oz tasters! They all complement each other well.
