10 year customer closing account for credit union. I've had a wells fargo account for over 10 years (2 different accts) and have used it in 4 different cities across the US. I have always been able to have some immediate access to my deposits--except at the Milwaukie & Portland branches. When I inquired as to why there were holds placed on my deposits, I was told by the manager, Vince Morgan that this was "standard procedure" and that he would call the other locations to see if this were true. I replied that I didn't care to verify my claim (maybe he did) but that I was more interested in gaining access to my deposits and told him I felt like I had to beg for my own money since I had to come into the branch to ask for cash on my deposits. He replied very rudely that "no one was asking me to beg" and "no one was saying that I wouldn't get my cash." When I asked why other banks & credit unions don't have this policy, he replied that WF was "conservative." Yeah, right. They're so conservative they can't give me access to my deposits yet they find themselves in need of billions in TARP funds! I'm opening an account with OnPoint Credit Union tomorrow. They give immediate access to the 1st $1,500 immediately upon deposit. So long WF. I won't miss you, particularly Vince Morgan at the Milwaukie branch. He was rude and only wanted to confront me, not help me. Goodbye & good riddance.
