Tips for Free Spirit Salon, Piercing, & Tattoo

January 18, 2013

I did a home piercing, and all's I wanted was a different/smaller jewelry for my lip ring. This woman had an attitude from the get-go. She charged me 35 dollars for the jewelry, which she insisted on putting in herself. I could get a full piercing for cheaper. Sure, she went the extra mile, and put it in for me, but she had a serious attitude problem. When I went up to pay, she just looked at me, and said, OK, shrugged, and gestured for her money. I'm nice, and I gave her a 5 dollar tip, but I would never go back to this place... EVER!

My experience was excellent. I bought a Groupon and when I called to make my appointment I left a voicemail. The receptionist called me back a week later to set my appointment, which was okay because I had over a month until the date I wanted. I too was told that the gratuity charge was $60. Being told what to tip was a first for me, but I understood because I have heard complaints from business owners about Groupon users not tipping. It's unfortunate that she has to tell customers what to tip, but it's unfortunate that people don't tip as they should on their own. The bottom line for me was that I felt like I got a heck of a deal and 60 bucks was nothing! Needless to say the $60 as well earned. Rene was wonderful. She had a positive attitude and made me feel and look absolutely beautiful. She did a beautiful job on my lashes. When I first looked at them I was like, “Whoa," because they were different and very noticeable. But by the time I got home and looked in the mirror I was like, "Yeah!" I have gotten so many compliments. My brows are magnificent. There is an art to waxing brows and Rene has to skill. She was able to enhance the natural arch of my brow and the tint really made them pop. I was worried because my brows are thick and dark, but she used a dark brown rather than black and I continue to get compliments on my brows. I am sold and so happy to have found a jewel salon in Gresham. I will be keeping my lashes because they're beautiful and it will be worth it. I am so ecstatic because I have finally found someone who can really work with my brows.

I was a little put off by the exterior of the older building, but once I was inside I scolded myself for being superficial. The essence was calming and relaxing. As I had my procedure done I laid with my eyes closed and listened to the mellow music and was taken away to a warm island. The light Rene used felt like sun on my face. There was a nice mellow aroma that filled the salon and I was very impressed. I will definitely be back and will be recommending this jewel to all I know.

Let me start this by saying that I have not yet had my appointment, but I already am NOT pleased with the professionalism of this business, and find them to be VERY rude. This is my first yelp review, and if I can save anyone from the frustration I feel, then I'll take the time to do it. I bought a Groupon deal for fake eyelashes, and wanted to use them for my engagement photo shoot about a month ago. I called trying to make an appointment, and a woman told me she would have her mom call me back to talk to me about getting the eyelash put on. OK? I wait. No call back. I call back the next day and leave a message. I do not receive a call until the next day when they tell me they don't have time until about a month out. We discuss what time, choosing between 8:30 am and 10:30am. She tells me the appointment will take about 2 hours (seriously?!) so I choose 8:30am. Then she drops a bomb - she tells me I have to pay a gratuity charge of about $60 (on top of the $89 I payed on Groupon), otherwise they "lose money." Once again... SERIOUSLY?!

So the day comes, I have my appointment on a crisp Saturday morning. I peel myself out of my warm bed to go to an EMPTY house, no one in sight. I am confused, and starting to get upset, but think... I'll wait 10 minutes. In that time, I call and look through the window (I can hear the phone ringing from outside) and leave a message explaining that I was here for my 8:30am appointment and that I was pretty upset that no one was here to meet me for it. I go home.

I receive a call around 10:30am (Really? You got my message 2 hours later, or decided calling me back when you got there wasn't a good idea?) from someone who is NOT apologetic, but annoyed instead. She said that she had been running late and was there 5 minutes later. I told her I waited 10 minutes. She told me she was pretty upset too and that this also ruined her morning. OK? Silence. She tell's me she doesn't know when she can fit me in because they're "so busy." Then she tells me if I want to, I can come in at 1:30pm today. NO thank you. I'm going to see what I can do to get my money back from Groupon, because they clearly don't need or want my business.
