After the ill-fated Fenouil closed (tip for prospective restaurateurs: don't use a name no one can pronounce), Pearl watchers wondered what would be able to fill the elegant, lofty and expensive space that overlooks one of Portland's most appealing parks. Jamison is the answer and let's hope it's a keeper. The menu concept is odd, to say the least. You're strongly encouraged to order family style and proteins, starches and veggies are chosen separately. The portions aren't large so a four-top should be able to sample several from each category (the meats are served pre-sliced). That may not sound promising, but everything sampled on a recent visit from grilled octopus to sausage flatbread to seared sturgeon to sauteed peppers was interesting and delicious. And you can't beat the setting on a warm summer evening.
