Just as popular as its big Brother on N.Williams, Tasty and Alder is a bustling, boisterous and delicious westside restaurant. The Steak a la plancha was amazing. Cooked beautifully, flavored with a spice rub and a the ideal amount of marbling. The Steak Frites was topped with a light blue cheese sauce, tender & plenty big enough to feel satisfied. As always, the radicchio salad with egg & bacon is always a great starter.

A slimmed down dinner menu at John Gorham's steakhouse may make it easier to decide (especially when eating with a group), but it's still impossible to let the ordering subside.

John Gorham shoots from the hip with Tasty n Alder. Keeping Tasty n Sons favorites, including the Chocolate Potato Doughnut and the Potatoes Bravos, on the menu makes Tasty n Alder both expected and comforting.

John Gorham's steakhouse-inspired dinner menu is loaded with family-style gems like bacon-wrapped grilled shrimp cocktail, house-smoked trout board, 14-day dry aged rib eye a la plancha, and crispy, duck fat-fried potatoes with a sunny-side up duck egg.

With the same rustic-cool aesthetics and come hither menu as its North Portland brethren, Tasty n Sons' new westside sister restaurant is already a downtown hit. Must-indulges include the smoked coppa steak sandwich with fried onions, and the Budapest coffee cake.
