WORST Mexican Food EVER. I went craving some good Mexican food, & what I got was JUNK!!! I asked for fajitas & all I got was something that tasted like liver & a lot of bell pepper & onions. This place does not know what Mexican food REALLY is, if you gave this place a good review I would suggest you travel to Texas. This place is OVER RATED & OVER PRICED! I feel sorry for the people who go & enjoy this place, even Taco Bell is more authentic than this JUNK!!! I now know that Portland does not have good Mexican places to eat. This place caters to people that have NO IDEA what Mexican food really is, & by the way I'm not Mexican I'm Colombian & I know what REAL Mexican food is. THIS IS JUST JUNK!!!!!!!!!…
Good food and good drinks. The place is always busy and we now know why. The food was not Americanized like many Mexican restaurants. It may not be the best-looking food, but it tastes good. The decor is a little on the busy side, but it’s entertaining to look around.…
Terrible. I have looked everywhere for good Mexican food in Portland and Beaverton, as far as I am concerned it does not exist. This is a prime example of Mexican food gone terribly wrong. I lived in Texas for most of my life, and I understand the difference between Tex-Mex and Mexican food. I have had both, on all levels. From the fine dining, to the little taco truck. Please don't go here, it is not what Mexican food is, Mexican food can be something sublime. I will call this what it is, North-Mex, and it does not work. Please reconsider if you ever find you yourself attracted to this place.…
Use to be better..
I have eaten at Pepitas many times over the last 4 years or so. The last 3 times or so, my wife and I have said "No more", and after our last dinner there, we won't be returning. I don't know if
there was a management change, or if the cooking staff has turned over, but the quality of the food has really declined.
On our last visit, I ordered Menudo, my wife the Tortilla soup with a side of beans, and my children a quesadilla. My menudo was watery and lifeless, the corn tortillas mass produced and tasteless. My wife's tortilla soup was too salty. When the waiter brought out my children's quesadilla and my wife's beans, he warned us about the "hot plate". Problem is, neither the plate nor the contents on them were hot, and we had to ask that the beans re-heated.
We have ordered cocktails there in the past, and I agree with others the prices are too high and the margaritas are made from bottles mixes.
Overall, I cannot recommend this place. If I want good Mexican food (without ANY atmosphere), I go to Ochoas in Hillsboro.…
Editorial Review. Pepita's Mexican Restaurant serves up authentic dishes in a friendly and traditional setting.
