Good sushi... but.. if you want REAL sushi, go here. If you eat (and enjoy) California Roll, you won't like it here. I love this place, but other than sushi, their cooked dishes are mediocre at best, especially given their price isn't exactly cheap. However, I don't mind paying $$ for good sushi. Their sushi chef is authentic as a sushi chef can be and you can tell by how he makes sushi and by the taste of sushi.

The service here, however, is rather questionable. One server (a Japanese with strong accent) seemed like she hates her job and did her job rather begrudgingly. Every time I've been here, everything I and my friends order always comes S...L...O...W... so just a heads up.

Great food, bad service. After being referred by some friends to try out Toshi's sushi, I came in on a friday with my girlfriend. l was very impressed by how good and authentic the food tasted. There was one problem though, the service was terrible. I had to ask for the second time to get something to drink. Just when I thought it couldn't get worse, the big lady was chatting with one of the customers, while I noticed other customers still waiting for their salads or drinks. Two customers waited nearly 5 minutes before they finally recieved their menus. This lady is a mess.

One thing I *really* miss about living in Beaverton. This was the first place I ever ate sushi. And having now eaten at dozens of other Japanese restaurants, I realize how awesome Toshi's was. Almost every time I eat sushi I find myself saying, "It's good, but Toshi's is better..." :-)

Best sushi in the burbs'. I have been going here for 2 yrs now and have always had excellent sushi! The sushi is always fresh and there are always good specials like toro. Their simple salad that comes with every meal has a FANTASTIC dressing on it. It is addicting. Their miso soup (which is also complementary) is also delicious (and I don't even LIKE miso soup!). The sake selection is also decent and one of their unfiltered, cold sakes is just superb (I can't remember the name but it was $20 for a huge bottle). The sushi chef is extremely nice and always smiling and the waitresses are very attentive, even when the place is packed (which it always is). Consistently good sushi is extremely hard to find in Beaverton/Hillsboro/Aloha but this place is ALWAYS good and I will continue to come back!

Great food, dedicated staff. A very authentic Japanese restaurant, Toshi delivers on all fronts. The food is fresh and delicious. Every bit as good as the Tsukiji area of Tokyo.

As the sole sushi chef of the restaurant, Toshi-san is very experienced and very dedicated. He packs the nigiri rice just right -- not so soft that it falls apart, but not so hard that it's like a rock. Experienced sushi-goers know what I mean here. He is also happy to let you order things off-menu like my personal favorite, maguro natto maki! You also get miso soup and salad with your order without having to pay extra -- an increasingly rare bonus in these times of tighter budgets.

Any time I have had any concerns, Toshi-san has worked cheerfully to make things right.

Service can slow down when it is crowded (as I mentioned, Toshi-san is the sole chef). Expect this and either plan for a more leisurely evening or try to go off-peak.
