Better than expected. I expected this place to be like the typical denny's/perkins/sheri's but i was very surprised. I had a the Stuffed cabbage rolls and they were very good. My husband had the taco soup which was great too. They were very nice and helpful. I would go back!
very average restaurant.
We don't live in the area and were interested in eating something German and decided on Heidi's after reading some very good reviews.
What a total disappointment! This is nothing more than a large restaurant serving very average fare with not much trace of anything Swiss or German apart from the name and the lady servers in costume.
I ordered a German sausage dinner and asked the server what the sausage was. He thought for a bit then said he doesn't know if it has any name or what the meat is. Then he proceeded to say, quote "They're brown and about this big," indicating something maybe an inch in diameter and 4 or 5 inches long.
When it came the only good thing was the hot potato salaad. The sausage was tasteless and fat, the suerkraut was more than sour. My wiffe's dish was equally uninspired.
By the way, the plaace looks great from the outside, has lots of empty tables insside and a good sized parking lot.
I would look for something else. They certainly won't see us in there again.
Cozy Place for Comfort Food.
Heidi's is probably one of my favorite places to eat in Gresham! They have excellent comfort food, reasonable prices (including daily specials) and consistent food & service. They make absolutely the BEST vegetable beef soup! I also highly recommend the potroast dinner. Some might be taken back by the old world German-Swiss decor and not to mention the server's dirndls, but these quirks are what create Heidi's nostalgic charm and identity.
After dinner, don't forget to browse through the gift shop to admire the coo-coo clocks. Oh, and did I mention they have an excellent bakery?
Fantastic Breakfast. The first time we went to Heidi's was in March of 2006. We were in the Portland area and had read about this place. We went there 2 different times for breakfast and once for dinner. Our favorite was breakfast. We will be back in the area this July, and definately plan on going there for breakfast. Service is wonderful, everyone there is very polite and helpful.
Terrible and outdated place. The food was not very good. The service wasn't the worse, and they seemed too shy to be a waitress. The atmosphere is for the elderly.
One of the BEST Breakfasts in town!. Heidi's has the best breakfast I've had in a long time. Their fresh baked pastries are wonderful and the menu is huge. There is something for everyone! The prices are pretty good too.
