Sorry service. My daughter wanted a root beer float. The waiter and manager said they did not serve it. I asked for a scoop of ice cream and some root beer, and was even refused that. Needless to say, we have not been back even though we are locals. These guys need some lessons in customer satisfaction.
Good food, but can be unpredictable.

We have been to the G more times than I can count. Food is good, more like comfort food. However, it is inconsistent. My husband often orders the fish and chips, he loves theirs, but too often he gets a tiny piece of fish and leaves hungry. A few times he had more fish on his place than he could eat, perhaps they gave him a double order. I like their dishes, but they don't wow me. This place is always busy, drinks are great, esp the margaritas and it's clean. The food is better than traditional pub fare, BUT you pay dearly for it. For their 5 oz fish & chips it's about $17, hendering on very over priced. I order something different each time I am there, (average $15) chicken dumplings, pasta, roast pork, specials, always pretty good, but nothing that I couldn't cook at home. Service, depending upon who you get can be terrible, clueless to very good. They don't advertise, don't need to and I suppose the affluent hood keeps them in business after all these years. I, for one, would love to see more healthy, "today" lighter dishes on the menu. And parking can be a challenge. Anyway, they are good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to find the place if I didn't live 1 mile away.
Outstanding place in the 'burbs to EAT!

We've been eating here since 1988! They're open for lunch & Dinner, FRI-SAT. The staff is very friendly.... it is a "Cheers" type of place - they really DO know your name if you've been there more than twice.
They have their "usuals" and then they have 3 weekly entree specials; one of which is some outstanding salad. Some people say it's a "fern bar" but that's not true... it's just and excellent place to "eat" as opposed to dine. And they just happen to have some Boston Ferns hanging in the skylights! Their daily soups are legendary and some are unusual but outstanding.
You can always count on an excellent meal, whether you choose a "staple" item from the regular menu - or a weekly special. You can't go wrong.
Children 2-5 leave them at home..... under 2 bring them, there's always some Grandma/Grandpa near that would love to hold them while you eat. 5 & over, bring them, they're old enough to entertain themselves. 2-5, leave them at home, they're disruptive and the restaurant isn't set up to accommodate them, which isn?t fair to the other diners!
- Pros: Weekly specials! Daily Soups! 2-5 year olds should stay home
- Cons: 2-5 year olds should stay home
