Outrageous prices, decent food, horrendous decor..
We've driven by this place a million times, and it looks like any random 60s-style building where you would expect to find hoards of senior citizens eating meatloaf dinners. When we went, it was a
surprise. The interior is really very badly decorated. No amount of white catering cloth or shining wineglasses can upgrade the seventies paneling and dark, gloomy decor. I'm thinking it's supposed to emulate the feel of a lodge, but it really just looks like a glitzed up roadside eatery.
Part of the restaurant still has a 'diner' appearance, complete with booths and horrendous window treatments. The staff stood around behind the counter gossiping and complaining about things the whole time we were there, which was really unprofessional. They were loud and well... unclassy... joking around with the kitchen staff and taking advantage of the owner's absence. The food was average... I'm sorry, but it's really the truth. The pasta I had could have been commercially-made supermarket alfredo sauce on name-brand farfalle with pieces of previously frozen seafood in it and it was twenty-something bucks. The steak was good for my husband but it was small, and god, the prices were INSANE. I've never paid that much for average food. The place is empty a lot and I can see why... Who can afford it? $18-$30 entrees? That's ridiculous--for food that is *far* from exceptional. If I'm going to pay that kind of money I would hope for really great cuisine. I'll head up the mountain to Timberline's Cascade Dining Room.
It's been a few months since we've been there so to be fair, there may have been some improvement since to both the menu and the decor--who knows? But I really do believe the menu is priced WAY TOO HIGH for what it is, and for as long as it continues to be so, I probably won't go back.…
