My personal favorite! If you EVER come down to olde town St. Helens... This is the place to go! Affordable and darn right tasty, the Klondike is great for a dinner and drinks with the Columbia River to boot! Kid friendly... But I would suggest coming early.

Haunted by Quality and Excellent Service!. .....and maybe a ghost or two as well. Nestled right by the Columbia River in Old Town St. Helens, this restaurant far outshines anything in it's zip code. Beginning with the historical merits of the building from which this restaurant gets its name-and is properly housed in, to the quality and creativity of its menu. Lastly-but certainly not the least important-the warm and attentive service is exceptional in its nature.

Upon entering The Klondike Restaurant and Bar, you find that the atmosphere is as comfortable as your own kitchen table, but with better service! You are promptly welcomed by smiling staff members. If you're lucky, you'll be greeted by one of the Owners, Roni or Dave, who are always eager to meet new faces or offer a warm hello to some of us 'regular' faces.

The menu is well thought-out, offering Dave's spin on traditional favorites like burgers, steaks, and sandwiches. Don't leave St. Helens without trying Dave's 'Portland Burger'.

Lighter fare includes a wide variety of salads-my favorite is the Spinach Salad topped with tender flat iron steak and appropriately adorned with a wonderful, warm bacon dressing. If you're after a steak, but not just any steak.....look no further than The Klondike's Filet Mignon. This filet is a perfect size and done to perfection-no steak knife needed, unless you're the type who needs a steak knife just because you 're eating a steak. This is the King of steaks in my opinion, however the Prime Rib, offered up on the weekends, is fantastic as well.

There are always successfully inventive specials offered on a weekly basis too. Recently my Husband enjoyed a beautiful piece of halibut with a walnut pesto that was flawlessly prepared. My favorite special? A juicy pork chop placed ever-so-artfully on a bed of pickled red cabbage with apples, and drizzled with a warm, nutty gravy.......Dave please bring that one back!

Desserts? Oh yes-there are desserts alright! A must-try is the apple crisp. OK-maybe the bread pudding. It's too close to call! Did you think there wouldn't be a Klondike Bar? There is even one of those!

Get there by bus, car, or boat, but get there to enjoy this gem of St. Helens! The Klondike Restaurant and Bar will be well worth the trip!

See you there :)

Really Great Prime Rib. I love this restaurant. They have great Prime Rib on the weekends. The rest of the week is good too, with weekly specials and a solid basic menu of American Styled food - steak, seafood, burgers, pasta, sandwiches, --oh lest I forget the Fish N' Chips...house made beer batter, battered to order... yum. The desserts are nice, especially the truffle cake which is very rich with its homemade whipped cream. I like the cocktails, but the bloody mary stands out in my mind - it has a crisp taste...The atmosphere is historic with a bit of funkiness. Be sure and ask your server for Ghosts stories, the place is haunted --- chilling.

GREAT PLACE TO EAT IN St. Helens. For a cozy, large enough, nice eating place ---- we all enjoyed our dinner and WE WILL RETURN! Service great, food was very good, greeted nicely and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Nice cook! A little bit regarding the pots. Try this: Simmering a garlic clove with the potato infuses it with flavor. Use whatever fresh herbs you have in your refrigerator.

Thanks for a great experience!
