We're testing a new design in Portland, OR Metro.
It doesn't have all the bells and whistles yet,
but we want to know what you think.

I can summarize Otto's in one word,
disorganized. I recently went there to rent skis and boots and wasn't really fazed by the fact they
tried to give me the wrong size boots three times (it was busy, could've been honest mistake) until I went to return them about 4 hrs later. I dropped them off per their instructions before they closed (there was a sales associate that physically took them from me) and was told I was good to go. I left with a fairly positive impression of the place. Then later that night I got a call from a family member frantically wondering where I was and if I was ok?
Evidently they had received a message from Otto's claiming I had never returned their equipment and could not get a hold of me so they called the emergency contact to let them know. Turns out they just misplaced the equipment and found it right as they were calling the emergency contact. Really!? It's one thing to loose equipment but to immediately assume I had either ran off with it or was missing rather than simply checking you're own inventory is ridiculous. Don't waste your time and money here, go to the Mountain Shop

You better hope they don't make a mistake!. A group of friends and I (all novice skiers) headed up to Mt.Hood to try out cross country skiing for the first time. We stopped at Ottos on the way up and rented 3 pairs of skis, poles, and boots. The young man helping fit us for skis and boots was in a rush and he made a mistake. He gave my girlfriend the wrong kind of boots for the skis he had given her. We, being novices, did not notice the problem until we had reached our destination which was 35 miles away. We tried for about 30 minutes to get the boots to work because we had been assured by the employee that it was just a simple snap in boot. I called Ottos and they quickly admitted to their mistake. At that point I was not upset in the least. I know that everyone is human and makes mistakes, but as a business you should do everything in your power to rectify those mistakes and in this case I believe that meant giving me a full refund. Our day was ruined because we were not going to leave a member of our group behind. I made this fact abundantly clear to the employee on the phone but he said the best they could do would be to give me a refund on the one pair of unmatched skis/boots and a ticket for a free rental. In my opinion that is completely unprofessional and a horrible policy to have in place if you are hoping to garner repeat customers. Needless to say, I will not be a repeat customer at Ottos. Fantastic Little Ski Shop. I purchased my xc skis from Otto's, they are very helpful and knowledgable. As a beginner last year, I had a lot of questions and the owner spent as much time as I needed helping me, fitting me and educating me. I recommend them to everyone and I like to support local business. I found my skis on sale so I got a great deal. I don't think they are any more spendy than other places. Let's face it fun sports cost money and good equipment is worth the cost. They have a great selection of rental equipment and regular stock. I have rented from them for 5 years before I started purchasing my own quipment. View Less … View More
A great little XC/Snowshoe shop!. While you will pay full price at this small shop, they stock high end gear and the service in unparalleled. The lady spent a wonderful half-hour with me helping me select a pair of gloves, identifying the best snowshoeing trails, and offering local tips. There rental gear is of good quality unlike some of the other places in Gresham/Sandy. View Less … View More
