McMenamins Edgefield
Owner
Located at the mouth of the Columbia River Gorge, historic McMenamins Edgefield is a former poor farm turned destination hotel. They offer cozy guestrooms, gorgeous gardens, amazing original artwork, an 18-hole pitch-n-putt golf course, massage, a winery and tasting room, distillery, a restaurant serving Northwest-inspired cuisine, small bars, a movie theater showing recently released films and more. Guests from all over the U.S. and beyond come to Edgefield to relax, reinvigorate and refresh with good food, handcrafted ales, wines and spirits and live music seven nights a week. Attend one of our many lively annual events, pay tribute to a remarkable wine at the Celebration of Syrah in April, jam with the hippies at the Jerry Garcia Birthday Bash in July or hoist a stein of German-style bier at our Oktoberfest in September.

The Scene
In 1990, the McMenamin brothers renovated this 38-acre estate--and locals and travelers have been flocking to it since. Built in 1911 as the Multnomah County Poor Farm, and later a retirement home, Edgefield is now on the National Register of Historic Places. Some employees claim it's haunted. Ask around, and you'll hear stories about cats, people and moving objects haunting the different buildings.
The Draw
The farm is now a resort with a hotel, hostel, two restaurants, several small bars, brewery, winery, tasting room, distillery, golf course and movie theater. There are gardens throughout the property and porches to rock away a warm summer day. The Power Station Pub offers a variety of tasty burgers and sandwiches, while the Black Rabbit is more upscale, featuring regional dishes and American favorites; it's also a popular brunch destination. McMenamins' beer, wine and spirits are available throughout the property.

Sure some of the staff seem a bit aloof, but the eclectic variety of places to relax and drink some beer/wine/spirits, combined with a consistently good rotation of live music and a number of other activities, makes Edgefield a great place to spend an evening. You can sample some wines and enjoy some tunes. Have a beer and a cigar by a fire in a cozy brick shed. Not to mention shoot some pool, play some golf, visit the glass blowing studio, sit out on the patio, watch a flick, etc. etc. If you cannot have a good time here, then relax, or get some new company.

Scoring Big @ Edgewood with Tony T-Money and the Crew: This rocking place kept T-Money and the Wrecking Crew kicking it like Tai-Bo all night long. T was kind enuff to leave his credit card and pick up the tab for all the sweet honeys! We thought we lost him in the cleavage of Miss California but he survived, yelled "cut me Mick!" and went in for the TKO! Gino was ready to front the bail money, but T-Money was all good. Fortunately you can buy enough beer to please a posse at McMennamin's without making a dent in the company pocketbook. Sully found the wings and the beer slide in and out just as easily - and the chicks too! Sweet lady LuLu kept it real while Bookie and his soon to be life-time sweetie Carny chugged some cheap ones. As for Mr. Pimpdiggity - well, if you want to know the rest, buy the rights!

After a day of hiking with my dog our friends and I stopped for a nice cold beer, not being able to bring the dog on the grounds (to our surprise) we parked in a shaded spot and left the windows unrolled several inches. We went to the downstairs bar for bad food and NO service to return to our car with the dog MIA Turns out a concerned citizen notified a staff member because our dog is a whiner, which notified the human society-rather then taking a minute to look for the owners. Being from out of town and it being a Sunday it took about 300 miles of driving and 75 bucks to bail our dog out of the Animal hospital that they failed to tell us they had taken him to. I would just have liked the same effort that they had put into calling someone else to brake into the car put into finding us on the grounds that we where obviously in.
