My boyfriend and I thought a romantic getaway would be fun at Edgefield. Not only not but completely ruined. We had to leave the hotel at 1:30am because our hallway was so loud with inconsiderate drunks. Falling up the stairs, down the stairs, calling to one another from down the hall, laughing and generally having a big party.. Which is fine if they were in a college frat house! This is an upscale historic lodge, but sure felt more like a frat house to us. Complete with drunk girls doing handstands in the ladies lounge, which was the "shared" bathroom for overnight guests and everyone else. Dirty washcloths on sink, robe on floor next to shower and toilet paper strung through bathroom. Our complaints fell upon deaf ears, the staff's atttiude was "well this is Edgefield and what happens when you mix alcohol and young people", instead of offering apology/compensation for our inconvience. Combine this with poor service, mediocre food, high prices and weak drinks, hmmmm... not sure how they stay in busines.

LAST VISIT!!!!! STAY AWAY!!! RAW FOOD BAD SERVICE!!!. We had the worst dinner at Edgefield, Not only was the service horriable, The food too!!! we ordered dinner and my turkey burger tasted like fish and made me so sick. My friends hamburger was brought out raw, and when we sent it back and another one was FINALLY brought back to us.... IT WAS RAW TOO!!!!!! fyi the burger was just meat and cheese no bun, and they couldnt even cook that right!!! Then we were charged for two burgers and only took one off...and then she blamed it on the manager as being slack, said she would fix it on the bill and never came back. So we paid for the one dinner and our drinks and left. STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not Impressed. The Black Rabbit is supposed to be the nice restaurant at the place and had the worst service ever. The food was decent but they made our group feel like we did something wrong when their staff was awful. Rude, incompetent and not personable. The hotel was VERY loud and we didn't sleep a wink. Paper thin walls and people yelling, pounding and talking til 3 am. I like the idea of the place and even the history of it but I won't be back.

Stay away.. Poor service and over-reactive security at Edgefield. I've been a huge McMenamins patron for years but kicking a paying guest off the property for telling a bartender he's a jerk? I scanned some other reviews and it appears the security team there has been a problem for others as well. Escorting a guest to their car after over serving and making them leave is a serious liability. That's lawsuit material. Sorry McMenamins, you just lost a long time customer.

red shed,. my boyfriend and I enjoy just having a beer or cup of coffee out by the red shed and enjoy meeting new people if WE choose to join in on a conversation, We have enjoyed exploring the grounds at edgefeild and feel that there is always something to do, I have enjoyed being able to take my 10 yr old son there to just let him run around the grounds but to enjoy concerts and other activities there as well, We will look forward to spending more time at edgefeild and the red shed,

A must-do. I love hanging out at Edgefield - always plenty of things going on to keep me entertained. Great casual atmosphere with a lot of places to explore. It's a must-do for my out of town guests - something for everyone.

The only thing that bugs me - the poor service at the Power Station restaurant. At times, you'll feel invisible waiting for a table as multiple staff will pass by you without even acknowledging your presence. Other than that, I highly recommend staying at Edgefield.

Fun!. Great place to relax and party at the same time. I have visited many times for parties and always enjoyed myself! We even went on a ghost hunt!

good idea but needs improvements. thin walls in the hotel allows you to listen to everyone doing everything.

crowds of loud 40-somethings devolving down a few notches in the food chain.

i guess what else do you expect when there are bars around every corner and in every little room on the property.

not a good place for a quiet getaway. i wouldnt recommend staying there, but find someone to be a designated driver and go have have fun for a night.
