Gresham >Food & Dining > Original Roadhouse Grill
Has a lot of potential. When one first walks in there is a great road house type feel but then it all goes downhill. No music in the bar, thankfully the kitchen staff were listening to a radio so there was some kine of back ground noise. The food is sugary and honey flavored. If you like your bread or chicken wings to taste like sugar or honey you might like it. I don't .The place just needs some life. music, sports, something and a menu upgrade for adult pallets. Tthe mason jars and craft beer on tap is a winner but the rest pretty much sucks.
Bring Chef Ramsay. Someone is getting fired!.
I bet a change in management is responsible for the degrading Orginial Roadhouse Grill (was it called Roadhouse grill only before?)
The food was ok but not as good as it used to be. Once upon a time, this place was always packed and meat was guaranteed fresh and delicious. I believe they can t even get the rolls right anymore!
Is anyone listening? Do something! This place is now living off its old reputation! I hope someone can take note and do something about this! Bring back the roadhouse grill! it used to be my favorite place!
One Star at the Roadhouse.
OK, I've been here several times in the past but this time I was disappointed to the point I need to tell you my story. This does not have to do with the food as much as how to fix a customer's meal that did not get the attention it should have when it left the kitchen.
I wanted fish and not the usual red meat dinners you get here. I saw Mahi-Mahi grilled with a special topping that sounded good on the menu, so why not. I ordered the fish with a side of steamed broccoli and thought I was all set for a nice healthy meal. My fish came out cold and soggy like it was sitting with this special topping, sitting long enough to get cold and have the liquid from the topping soak right-in. The first bite was terrible and I should of said something right away to the waitress but she took off and we did not see her for a while.
I continued to try and figure out what happened because the salmon was delicious that someone else ordered in our party, came out hot and all. The two steaks that were ordered medium rare came out well done and tough to chew, that's another story. Back to my fish, I told the waitress that the fish was cold, sat around in the kitchen for a while and not appetizing at all and she could see that I ate only a few bites. I told her that it's not her fault and don't take it personally because she started to look offended. Hey she asked if everything is OK as is normal for the staff to ask and most of the time no one says a negative. I told her to do me a big favor and tell the kitchen and the manager so it won't happen again. She came back later and said she did tell the people in the back and asked if I wanted to take the fish home. Oh my God, do I need to say more.
The bill came and I gave her a good tip because it's not her fault and on the credit card slip I wrote a quick note .... "The Mahi-Mahi was cold". I hope that the manager will read these YELP articles and the 1 start reviews and really get that staff to report to the manager or assistant manger RIGHT AWAY so young inexperienced wait staff will know what to do and not have a unsatisfied customer walk out and not ever come back.
Easy stuff, call for help and fix the problem with that customer, either offer something else and serve it right away, give out a gift certificate for a future visit, erase the price of that meal ... something and not let that customer leave without a good try! Sometimes I wonder how much a place advertises to bring in new customers. Some of the best places in town live on word of mouth and don't spend a dime on advertising.
Agree with others TERRIBLE!. I agree with what others are saying I wanted to go somewhere good one night and remembered how we used to love the roadhouse and there rolls were yummy but when we dined here about a year ago I was more than disappointed. Our service was awful and the food mediocre The rolls were still good but it was hard to have our server come by to ask for more and when she did it seemed like it was a real bother to her. I wrote to the compnay to complain and all they did was call me back to get more info. Really? I spen nearly $100 on a dinner for 3 and was very unsatisfied and all they wanted was to take up more of my time and talk? Really? Surprised this place is still open.
Not what it used to be.
This place used to be the best! Now because of the management change a year or so back it sucks!
They have gone cheap to get higher profits, but it doesn't seem to be bringing in the once loyal customers or new ones. The 5 stars that were given must be really old or by employees because that place is down the tubes!
I will no longer go there after spending 150bucks and getting the worst food ever!!!!! I could have gotten a better steak at Shari's! The cut was horrible and the bland instant like mashers were not edible. Either they hire idiots as cooks or the company won't spring for the better quality ingrediants they used to. If that's the case then why would I pay more for less???
no longer a loyal customer of this place!
Gone down. I used to frequent this restaurant. Over the last couple years the quality of food and service has diminished. My final visit was more than a week ago. We were seated after waiting 15 minutes in a dining room which was less than half full. We then waited another 10 minutes to receive water. The "famous" rolls came as thick as pancakes. The "Bourbon Wings" had half the sauce they normally receive and were not hot. During the late 90’s and early 00’s you could not walk into Roadhouse without being greeted by the management team and smiles. I haven’t seen a manager at this location in a long time. I haven't received good service or food in several visits. I cannot return. What happened?
Service was poor & Prime Rib was awful..
We went to this location for a birthday in the beginning of March '09. I would have walked out if it had not been the birthday person's wish to eat there. We ordered prime rib and it was like eating a block of salt. I love prime rib, but only get it on special occasions. The poor taste of the food certainly tainted the special occasion.
Our group had made reservations for 30 a week in advance, and when we arrived we waited an hour to be seated. The hostesses did nothing to even attempt to set us in a timely fashion, or to ensure we were all in one area. The servers we less than responsive, or friendly for that matter, and 1/2 of our parties food was cold. I will NEVER go back.
The rolls are to die for!!!. Great service there was a ballon shaper guy there for my child and everyone was very friendly. It felt like i went to a good old country bar where it didn't matter if you had great manners you were still given great service! and because it was a little nosie my child who is 18mo was not a problem there at all!!
Great steak, NOT at all kid friendly.... Well when it comes to steak I don't think you could get much better... As for service, you would have better luck with Mcdonalds... I am a single parent with three kids... I took my disabled mother and two of my kids to the roadhouse for lunch (you know where you throw peanuts on the floor)... Well my 2yr old was being a little fussy and I had the waitress get her some applesauce to calm her... By the time the waitress came back a different waitress had come and told us we had to move to another section due to my child fussing a little... She was not screaming eigther just a little winey... Well they moved me and my children and my disabled mother to the BAR where there was active smoking going on... and they forgot to bring our food... at that point we left NEVER to return.... I would not recomend it.... NOT a good experiance....
Best food anywhere. I absolutely love this restaurant. Everytime someone new visits me from out of town I take them to the Roadhouse. Not only do they have great steak, but their biscuits and salad are also excellent. The atmosphere is friendly and warm, the service is wonderful and they make great drinks. I would recommend this restaurant highly to anyone.
