Sad service in attendance.. Fred Meyer's has always been great as far variety and sales.

BUT..... I've worked in a lot of different retail jobs, and shopped a lot of retail stores. I'd like to think I know what one should expect from a business.

Any time I need help there, I'm out of luck. I consistently can't find an employee to help, or answer questions. The lines ALWAYS seem to be a bit long when I go to check out.

Their customer service has been on a steep decline the last few years. They don't value their employees, and the people in charge only look at the "bottom line" and numbers on paper. There aren't enough employees in any department to see to customer needs, and the department managers are constantly being shifted around. I always see other customers wandering around with that "ummm help?" expression. Their shortsighted corporate mindset is destroying what Fred Meyer originally created, and ruining any chance of respectable customer service. Although, I suppose if one were deviant, the lack of employees in attendance would be a good thing.

Anyway,

TIP: always check the adds, you will most often save a minimum of 10% on something you buy. If you shop there often, it's worth it to get the "rewards card". It actually saves you a good few $$ if you shop there any kind of regular. They mail you a bunch of quality rebate coupons at the end of every "cycle" depending on how much you spent. If you're completely against the card, at least check the in store adds.

Avoid Completely. I was in the store yesterday with my sister browsing in the clothing department when we overheard two women arguing. It became louder and a little more heated when we looked over & realized it was two Fred Meyer employees bantering back & forth as to who was right. We obviously had puzzled looks on our faces because another employee walked by and asked we needed help finding something. We said "no, just those two employees are arguing over there". The employee just said "oh" and walked off. Hello? This was the final straw - this store has never had good customer service and now for me the reason has been proven - hire a new caliber of employee! It is worth the 8 mile drive east to the Sandy store. Top notch service there!!
