A must on your tour..
Great Tasting room, large enough for folks to chill in. Our favs, the Black Bubble Champagne and the Cowboy Chardonnay.. YEA YEA we know it is Pinot territory,, but these 2 deserve honorable
mention.
Go. Enjoy. Drink Nosh.…
Fantastic Wine, Terrible Customer Service.
First off, the wine is amazing. However, I would have preferred if the woman "assisting" us had kept silent. It was hard to enjoy the incredible Pinot Noirs that Argyle makes with her yabbering on
and on about how she is a "martini girl" and how she thought Pinot Noir was crap until she started working for Argyle (was that an attempted sell right there?) Then she pulled out a glass and started tasting with us -- incredibly unprofessional.
I can't say that she was a good example of the customer service since we saw two other people working who seemed to be very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about what they were serving. If you do go to Argyle, which I hope you do for the wine alone, please try to avoid the tanorexic brunette: she'll only ruin the experience.…
Excellent wines, fun & friendly tasting room.
While the prices of Argyle's wines are higher than the average stuff you'd find at Whole Foods or World Market, you definitely get what you pay for. From what I've read, Argyle has some of the
highest rated wines to ever come out of Oregon, including the highest rated sparkling wine ever made in the USA. It's hard to criticize excellence - they obviously know what they're doing and they do it well.
The tasting room is beautiful (century-old house, fully redone inside). I've stopped in a few times with family, and each visit was very pleasant. Everyone working there seems to actually enjoy being there, and they know a lot about their wines and how they're made.
The last time I was there, I was able to try 5 different wines (various pinot noir, chardonnay and a sparkling) for about $10, which was very fair compared to other tasting rooms in Dundee. Again, the wine is tops, so it's worth trying.…
They make wine tasted by the president..
In Short
Technically, Argyle Winery is the Dundee Wine Company, founded in 1987 by Australian winemaker Brian Croser and local grower Cal Knudsen, of Knudsen-Erath. They set out to produce
a Champagne-quality sparkling wine, since the grapes of the Champagne region do well in Oregon. Croser also makes a number of other well-received wines, including Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Pinot Noir.…
Nice tasting room.
Argyle has some decent wines but better champagne. I think their location is just a tasting room which gets 100% of the wine tasting crowd as it is one of the first you stop by going S on 99W.
Expect a crowd and every bridal party on the road...
Prices were fair and we enjoyed our stop in.…
