In Short – Technically, Argyle Winery is the Dundee Wine Company, founded in 1987 by Australian winemaker Brian Croser and local grower Cal Knudsen, of Knudsen-Erath. They set out to produce a Champagne-quality sparkling wine, since the grapes of the Champagne region do well in Oregon. Croser also makes a number of other well-received wines, including Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Pinot Noir.
Excellent wines, fun & friendly tasting room
by PBOregon
While the prices of Argyle's wines are higher than the average stuff you'd find at Whole Foods or World Market, you definitely get what you pay for. From what I've read, Argyle has some of the highest rated wines to ever come out of Oregon, including the highest rated sparkling wine ever made in the USA. It's hard to criticize excellence - they obviously know what they're doing and they do it well.
The tasting room is beautiful (century-old house, fully redone inside). I've stopped in a few times with family, and each visit was very pleasant. Everyone working there seems to actually enjoy being there, and they know a lot about their wines and how they're made.
The last time I was there, I was able to try 5 different wines (various pinot noir, chardonnay and a sparkling) for about $10, which was very fair compared to other tasting rooms in Dundee. Again, the wine is tops, so it's worth trying.
- Pros: Superb Pinot Noir, great sparkling wines
- Cons: crowded weekend parking
Nice tasting room

Argyle has some decent wines but better champagne. I think their location is just a tasting room which gets 100% of the wine tasting crowd as it is one of the first you stop by going S on 99W. Expect a crowd and every bridal party on the road...
Prices were fair and we enjoyed our stop in.
Wonderful pinot and sparkling wine in Dundee
by mingcat
Conveniently located right off highway 99W, in the heart of Dundee, the Argyle tasting room is a wonderfully welcoming stop on any winetasting weekend. Walk up the short path to the charming country house, and be greeted by friendly staff who just love to share what they know. The spacious tasting room accomodates quite a few people at once, but we never felt rushed or that we were in a tourist trap -- the quality of the wine speaks for itself. We sampled their sumptuous pinot noir, but I have to say, I'm completely in love with their sparkling wine. We brought back a bottle, but I was also happy to find it also available in LA wine shops, so we can enjoy it again and again.
- Pros: Great wine, convenient location, friendly & knowledgable staff
- Cons: almost none!
