Won't Be Back. I read the other reviews here, and am really shocked to see how high some of the ratings are. The food is OK, it's nothing special, I suppose if you don't really know what good Mexican food, however I do. The food is really over priced, and they don't offer a real lunch menu, which is really odd, considering you can go to better Mexican restaurants who offer great lunch deals.

It's the service that's lacking. I agree with Erin D. Horrible service! They will leave you sitting, waiting to have your order taken, it took nearly 20 minutes, after I was finished to get our check. That's ridicilous. I've eaten there on and off over the past few years, and the service has gotten progessively worse. (It's too bad, Amigos is no longer there!)

On our last visit, it was just intolerable. Sever wasn't friendly, on the rude side to be sure, we didn't feel welcome, there was only one other couple eating there. We were left sitting and sitting, waiting for the server to show up. We felt like us being there, was a inconvience to this woman. That's not how a business should be treating it's customers. They do have coupons in the Clipper, which means, they need the business. Usually, when I have gone, it's usually empty. I see why that is. If the owner is reading this, I hope you can understand, this is NOT the way to keep customers. You cannot expect to keep ignoring your customers, and have them want to come back. Doesn't work that way. Why are they even open if you don't want to wait on the customers? We will NOT be back. The only thing I regret, I we should have walked out after waiting as long as we did! Do yourself a favor, and do NOT eat here! Go to Amigos or Peppers instead! TRUST ME ON THIS!!!!!!!

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!!. We just moved to Hillsboro and have been looking for a good mexican place. After reading the reviews, we decided to give this place a try. We got there about 6PM on a Friday night and found only 1 other family in the restaurant (2 or 3 other families came in later). It took FOREVER for them to take our order, FOREVER to get our food, and FOREVER to get our check. The food was not good... very bland, over-cooked, etc, and was way over-priced ($50 for 2 adults, a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old and we did not order any alcohol or dessert). I lived in San Diego for 6 years and have eaten at some really great, authentic restaurants on both sides of the border. This place just didn't cut it.

AND... I took my 4 yr old to the bathroom as we were leaving... the entire hallway to the bathroom stunk of urine and the bathroom was DISGUSTING! Think of the filthiest gas station restroom you have ever been in and this was 10 times worse. I wouldn't have eaten there if I had seen the restroom before I ate. My husband wound up on the toilet half the night after we got home and my 4 yr old complained of a "tummy ache" all night. We will definitely not be going back!

The only thing that I can think is that all of the other reviews are from friends and family of the owners. PLEASE DO NOT EAT HERE!!!

Awesome dinner!!. We have been looking for a local spot to support local and not pay so much for a simple dinner and this is the place. We have gone for the second time and now it's gonna be our favorite little spot. The drinks are great and they are not expensive. It sure tastes home made and considering we are from New Mexico where it's all pretty much authentic this is great to have found!!

Authentic Mex Food but Worn Down Dirty Restaurant!!!. I have been to this restaurant about 5 times. I go there for authentic mexican "Mama's home cooking" but in terms of the smell and look of the restaurant I have to say it is a dirty little run down hole in the wall. It is next to a lottery smoke shop in a corner of a parking lot by Big Lots. The owners are nice enough, the service and check out are a bit on the 10 minutes or more waiting list. We have never waited for a seat however and enjoy the dirt cheap prices and coupons. In fact we only go when we get a coupon. My husband has gotten vomitus sick the last time we went so that might be our last visit to this little Mexico. Enjoy the chipping plastered walls, the dusty flowers and old porceline birds along the walls and the duct taped vinyl seat covers. Diner-beware!

Fantastic Food. My husband and I went to check out this restaurant which we'd been to before and was just ok and we were so glad we did. We got a coupon from a friend and decided we'd try it since a meal was free. We had no idea it had new owners. Not only did we get great service, but we got fresh tortillas with our meal (which the lady makes in the back per orders) and we also supported a local business at the same time. Good choice! I pat myself on the back for this one!
