My husband and I have been great fans of Juan C (the Bethany location) for some time, but the last couple of visits have been so disappointing, we've been visiting other restaurants.

The service is adequate at best - once the order is filled, we don't see the server until it's bill time. No water or chip/salsa refills for the entire visit. The servers are friendly but distant.

Portions have shrunk in the past few years (although I'm sure this is an industry-wide trend to keep up with costs/recession).

Cooking style seems to have changed. My favorite dish has gradually changed - the incredible shrinking steak, one less shrimp, more lettuce than beans, etc. We asked for half corn and half flour tortillas - they brought out all flour, took them away, brought all corn, took them away, brought out all flour again...

Service bad. Lousy Service. I've eaten here many times. Last visit I ordered the Chili Rellenos. Terrible, I took one bite and my husband took one bite to confirm it was awful. Waiter never came back to check on us. My husband had finished his plate, my was left uneaten. I commented to the waiter that it was the worst chili relleno I'd ever eaten. His comment "yes I know, that's how they make them here." No offer to make something else, no reduction on bill. We will never go back to them.

Awesome Food. I love love love their food. We've been going to this place for 25 years give or take. Amazing food, always good servers. The drink's are kinda high priced, but I don't care. The chips are yummy, the food is fresh and tasty and abundant. I love their flauta's. Much better then say, Chevy's. Overall, good authentic mexican food and helpful servers!

great place. Against the recommendations of other reviewers we gave this place a chance. Upon entering we were greeted with smiles and open arms. The place was clean and service was prompt. Our server Raul was friendly and helpful. Every employee that passed our table ask how we were and offered great service. When the food came we were surprised at the generous portions and quick service. The food tasted fresh and well prepared. I especially enjoyed the handmade tortillas. The only thing not perfect was a mistake on the order. But it was correct before the food was brought to our table. The only reason we knew about the mistake was because of the extra free food items brought to us. Everything from the main course to the chips and salsa was great tasting and we very much enjoyed our experience.

HORRIBLE SERVICE, mediocre food. Don't bother with this place. I have been here multiple times trying to give them a 6th or 12th chance but their servers there are so rude. They barely speak to you, they don't check up on you. The place is dead almost all the time even during the peak eating hours. (You wonder why?)

They over charge you for everything... things that other places provide for you - tortillas for your fajitas (the server even told me it was cheaper to go to the grocery store to get the tortilla than to get it from them!!!)

They will be out of business soon if they don't clean up their act.

Decent food, terrible service. Terrible service the last several times going there. We live across the street and have always enjoyed their lunch specials, but as of late, the service has been declining. Not only are they not very attentive (my cup of water was empty the whole time, practically have to beg for more chips and salsa) but they switch from lunch to dinner at 2pm (or 5 minutes before) without letting you know. We clearly arrived and ordered way before 2pm but they merely charged us the dinner price. Who starts to serve dinner at 2pm?? Granted, the food was good, but pay a little more attention to your customer service cause it definitely is lacking. I think this was our last straw for this restaurant. There are plenty of other mexican restaurants in the area that serve better authentic food (Ochoa, Pachanga's) than this place.

Excellent service , food & drinks!. We have been eating here for two years now, and while it's not the most adventurous Mexican place to eat in Hillsboro, when we want basic good food and quick service in a nice casual atmosphere, or have a large group that needs feeding, we come here. The place is always clean and our food is always correct, even though I have food allergies and have to ask for special considerations. It is very reliable- we have never been disappointed. Even my mom loves it!

Health Hazard. Yes, I have ate at this restaurant. Would I ever go again? No. Not after I saw this place on dirty diner and the place was revealed to have undercooked food that could cause bacterial death to a patron. Dirty silverware being reused and dishes being poorly cleaned on top of that. I will never ever go here again nor should anyone else.

Oh my God! Awful!!!. This is hands-down the shittiest Mex food in the entire Portland metro area. I have better food at Taco Bell--no kidding. The service was equally poor. The waiter just tossed our menus down on the table, then walked away unttering a phony "enjoy amigos." The drinks we ordered didn't even seem to have any alcohol in them. This restaurant is definitely having problems. My advice is to stay away.

Stay away from this dump. We called before coming to this retaurant on Dec 31st 2008 and was told they close at 930pm that day. We drove about six miles to get there and when we got there at about 855 pm we were told "sorry we're closed buddy". So our response was, "why were we told you close at 930 then?" what the heck did we waste our time coming here for? Then the employee responded by saying F### you too!!!. What a rude way to greet customers. Stay away from this place.
