We LOVED this place. The pizza (we ate four different slices, from regular cheese all the way to some brie and pumpkin concoction) and everything was SOOO GOOOD. The homemade blueberry soda on tap, along with nice guys serving behind the counter made this an excellent experience.

Used to be great, but poor service now. This used to be one of our favorite places to get pizza from until I had a horrible experience last week. I ordered a pizza and two breadsticks and they told me it would be about 20 minutes. We live about 20 minutes away, so we drove down and arrived about 25 minutes after we placed our order. When we got there the pizza was not ready, so I stepped aside to wait. About 5 minutes later I reminded them I was waiting and they pulled the pizza out and it was all bubbled up and smoking. They showed it to me and it looked ok. They offered to remake it, but I didn't want to wait another 20 minutes. I reminded them about the breadsticks and they had forgotten to put them aside for me, so they only had one left. Then I had to wait a few more minutes for them to cook that. I left and drove the 20 minutes home. When we got home we opened the pizza and it was totally black on the bottom, completely inedible. We called them to let them know and they offered to refund the money. Well, it's been a few days now and the charge still sits in my account with no refund. I will not be going there again and will let everyone I know what horrible service they provided to me.

NO TWO MEATS FOR YOU!. We tried Hot Lips in the Ecotrust Building and while it was okay, it was nothing like the rave reviews that had filled our ears before coming here. We went whole-hog, so to speak, and tried the raspberry soda (good, but not amazing) and a slice of the pizza of the day which had a white sauce, cheese and spinach. Thin crust, which the hubs liked but I prefer thick. The overall flavor was good, but with each bite I felt like my taste buds were searching for something...more. More flavor? I'm not sure, but I came away feeling like I'd eaten for sustenance and not for enjoyment (which is a cardinal sin in my book).

The other thing that peeved me a bit was the fact that there are stringent rules to be followed (is it just me or are many Portland establishments so busy trying to create and follow silly food "rules" that they just completely miss the boat on the customer's experience???). Only three toppings max allowed, and only one can be meat. NO TWO MEATS FOR YOU (bellowed in the tone of Seinfeld's soup nazi....)!

Oh dear. Can we all stop taking ourselves so seriously?

Best you'll find in PDX. This location nine times out of ten has good pizza - sometimes, depending on the cook or something, the pizza is inconsistent. Overall, really good pizza and daily specials in-store. Twice on delivery, pizza tasted great, but they'd mixed up our order (and whole pies are way overpriced).

Wish they would stop (re)using gross trays. Super unsanitary. Glad they stopped collecting the trays, at least, on top of the garbage can. It's not NY pizza, but they're not trying to be.

repeated order confusion. We used to get our pizza from Blind Onion, until they closed their downtown location. We were devested until we found the Hot Lips pizza near PSU. Our first order was wonderful, and we were hooked. Our second order took 90 minutes to deliver and we live only four blocks away. Our third order took 2 hours to deliver. Both times we were quoted 45 minutes. Our fourth order was forgotten. So we called again and they cooked us a new pizza and priority delivered it with a discount. It was still raw, because they rushed it so quickly and didn't cook it all the way. We decided that perhaps the PSU location might be incompetent, but we didn't want to give up because the pizza is really good. So, we tried to order as a pick up item from the new location by the Civic condo building on Burnside. We called in our order and went to pick it up. They cooked entirely the wrong pizza for us. The person we ordered from had left, so no one knew what could have happened. So, they made us a new pizza and we had to wait 25 minutes for it -- making it yet another 90 minute experience. And no discount was offered. I am sure you can understand that no matter how good the pizza is, and no matter how much we like it, we are ready to give up on Hot Lips.
