You can’t help but love this Goose Hollow oldie but goodie, especially when you’re firmly planted in a booth with their renowned Reuben and a pitcher of beer.
A fun place to come for lunch-thereâÂ?Â?s a. A fun place to come for lunch-thereâ??s a lot of political history as itâ??s currently owned by the former Mayor of Portland. American food done in a classic style, nothing fancy here. A popular place for dinner as well. I liked the old wooden booths, too.
Best ever. I am basically there all the time. The atmosphere, the food, the music. One of the best places (for what it is) in town.
Drink more! Eat less!. I admit I haven't tried the Rueben, but $7 seems a bit steep for a sandwich, a little scoop of potato salad, and a few vegetable pieces. The vegetarian "Cowboy Beans," listed on the online menu, are no longer available. The turkey dumpling soup had tasty broth, but few dumplings and less turkey. And I'd like my $3.75 back for the small, iceberg-riddled side salad. Overall this place seems fine for drinking and hanging out, but I'll never go back looking for a meal.
Amazing Reuben. Goose Hollow Inn has a well earned reputation for having the best Reuben in town. They have the beer selection you'd expect out of a Portland bar, unfortunately they are not a full bar. The pizza is decent, but the other menu items are they just so they can say they have a menu. They could really use a fryer, it would be nice to have french fries along with the reuben when you don't feel like potato salad. Bottom line: If you want to enjoy the best reuben in town with a beer then come here, but if you don't want a reuben then I wouldn't bother.
Feels Like Home. I love the Goose Hollow Inn. They have an awesome patio that is nice to chill out on during the summer and the winter. There is a bit of an "older" crowd of regulars that hangs out there, but overall this place is top notch. The prices are right, the people are friendly, and the reubens are heavenly. Don't come in here expecting outstanding service, just come and enjoy the exprience and sip on your brewski whenever it arrives...
Chill atmosphere.
I recently moved into the Goose Hollow neighborhood and had to check this place out. I really liked the atmosphere and cheap beer prices. A great place to grab a beer or two with a few friends. The service is average, but in my experience that can be expected with neighborhood establishments.
I had heard it offered the 'best Rueben in the city' and I had to find out for myself. I haven't had too many Rueben sandwiches in Portland so I can't say if that is true or not, but it is a very good one nonetheless.
Heated outdoor seating is a plus.
best reuben ever. Most sinful delicious reuben I have ever eaten. Two words CRISPY CHEESE. I come from a long line of reuben lovers and when they come to town I bring them to the goose for a tasting. We all agree... baking your reuben in a pizza oven is the way to go. Also the sauce they use.. Im not sure whats in it exactly but I sense an unusual hint of nutmeg. Its delicious. Anyhooo this joint is also great for pitchers of pasbt during your lunch hour. Or three or four. The locals at the bar drinking at 11am help you not feel like an alcolholic and thats a good thing.
