Portland >Marsee Baking
Are things going downhill at Marsee's???.
Ok, I used to live in Sellwood back in 2000 to 2005, back then Marsee's was THE place for baked goods - just absolutely wonderful. After moving away for several years and my victorious return to Sellwood, we sauntered into my old favorite and was shocked how things have deteriorated!
The young women working there didn't seem to care at all!!! There were flies in the pastry case and when mentioned to the workers - not much of a response. Its probably still in there flying around and soiling the baked goods.
The coffee is still good. But I'm going to go Grand Central Bakery like the rest of the Sellwood residents.
Best lunch I'd had in awhile!. A sweet ambience with bar stool tables and big booths lends to the overall lunchtime experience at Marsee in Sellwood. Great veggie sandwiches (the sourdough roll is a bit big though), Tim's potato chips, and the best Tomato bisque soup I've had in Portland, along with a full bakery (cookies, macaroons, breads, etc.) AND a full coffee bar--this place really has all you need. Big chais and dramatic lattes go great with daily soups and sammys.
