Dive bar by night, brunch by day. Great Bloody Marys (with jalepeno and bacon) and eggs Benedict!
bad decision. I have been visiting this bar for about a year and recently found out that one of my favorite bartenders was fired! It must have been some kind of sabotage cause she was fun and witty! Sucks for them!
Good service, great drink, and fabulous veg burger.
The bartenders at Limelight rank in my top 5 in town, holding number one. They are friendly, strong when they need to be strong, strict when they need to be strict, and always open to a welcoming conversation.
Their veggie burgers and fries are delicious, ranking in my top 3 for Portland.
No smoking for a couple years, so no rank smells from years past, and a couple tables outside to enjoy a the night or a smoke. I love this place so much, but you can find out for yourself.
Breakfast is back!. Great neighborhood spot, love the new menu (fish taco's!), the bartenders always poor a good drink, and hooray - Breakfast is back!
What's happened to my favorite local pub?. was a regular at the Limelight for a handful of years...and then they decided to change the menu and God forbide, eliminate their weekend breakfast! That was the Limelight's most redeaming quality. At least the staff has gotten less hostile. But bring back breakfast please! It was the best in the hood
I love this place..
Picture this:
You are sitting in a rock hard chair with a vague odor of many years of suppressed flatulence in the lounge as the smooth jazz drifts over to your ears. The secondhand smoke wafts into your lungs, killing billions of cells per second. A fat old lady arrives with your plate of chicken wings, which you sink your decaying teeth into and swallow the heart stopping cholesterol bomb they call "happy hour."
I hope I've made my point by now.
Great drink spot.
We've been to the Limelight a few times and it has earned its spot in the rotation. Though you enter from the street, it feels like you've stepped into a cool, hidden basement bar. The inventive drink specials and happy hour will keep us coming back.
The service was prompt and the drinks generous. We also really appreciated the non-smoking atmosphere.
Cute wait staff and pool tables. Took my elderly folks to lunch here and the cute waitress was very patient with them. The food was satisfactory enough but it was the pool tables in the bar that caught my eye. I certainly will go back for a meal and shoot some pool. A very friendly place.
Best burger, fries and long islands in Portland!!!!. I love this place! My best friend and I have been regulars for over a year now. The wait staff is awesome we don't even need to order because they know our order every time........2 Bacon swiss burgers with a pile of awesome crispy fries and 2 long island's hold the gin extra tequila served in those fantabulous mini carafe's!!! Feels like your getting two drinks for the price of one!!! Almost didn't want to brag about how great this place is because I like the cozy feel with the new artsy pictures for sale posted on the walls. The burgers are great, not greasy and you can tell it's real beef and not the processed stuff. The owner is a great guy and the servers are very nice. Service is great, food is always hot and fresh! And it's no smoking inside, which is super nice. Who likes to eat and smell the linger of some stale nasty cigerette. If your looking for the best burger and fries in town, this is the place to go! And of course for the long islands! :)
nice atmosphere, good drinks, friendly people, internet jukebox. What a friendly bar! I met some cool people at the pool tables and the internet jukebox was very enjoyable. The bartenders were nice and poured a good drink. I was told the Limelight went non-smoking after the first of the year and that's something this reviewer likes. The food at the Limelight was delicious. Thumbs up to the cooks in the kitchen. I'll definitely be back!
The Lamelight...where unpleasant bartenders go to practice their trade!. Rule Number 1: Hire staff who don't so obviously hate working in a bar! What a miserable group of bartenders and cocktailers. It is as if they feel they are doing you a favor because they popped the top off of your beer. The Lamelight, as it has become known to many in the the area, is in a great location and could be so much more than it is! But the sour faces and terrible attitudes of the staff have made me feel, on all 3 occasions I have been there, like I was interrupting a wake when I asked for a drink. Food is average bar (burgers, sandwiches, fryer fare). Pool tables and jukebox are mild draws.
