Yum Yum. Philadelphia's has great philly cheese steak. Awesome take out. Very friendly service. It's a perfect neighborhood hang out. Pretty good selection of beer...only down fall is no fries. But the sandwiches are huge and yummy.
Editorial Review. Philly cheesesteaks and hoagies tucked away in the Northwest's smallest microbrewery where craft beers complement the mouthwatering food.
Disappointing.
This place isn't worth much of my time, so here ya go.
Overpriced. 7-8 dollars for pretty standard fare. None of the ingredients were top of the line.
Slow. Place was empty. I was only one in there about 3 in the afternoon. Stick took longer ten-fifteeninutes for a take-out order.
Bland. The places that operate out of shacks downtown have fresher food, better prices, and friendlier staff.
This place just doesn't care.
Very close to the real thing.....
I too have spent a lot of time in Philladelphia in the past and every once in a while get the craving for a good cheese steak. I have searched all over and this is about as close as you can get.
The buns are great they sort of stick to your mouth and are so soft. I agree more meat would make them be a little closer to the real thing but for a great cheesesteak here in the Portland area this is about as good as it gets.
2nd best Cheese Steak in P town. The guy with the stand in pioneer square has them beat, but if you're not down with a sketchy guy making your cheese steak in Pioneer square then this is your spot. It's really good.
Mmmmmmmmmmm.... I love Philly's! These are the best steaks in the area hands down. I spent a lot of time in Philladelphia when i was in college and i have to say that Philly's has better steaks that half the places i tried back east! Try not to go during conventional dinner hours on weekends, because this place gets packed. the ppl that work there are really nice too!
Save the trip to Philly. There's something about a Philly cheesesteak that just doesn't taste the same anywhere else, but take it from a "Phiwy" native, these guys make a good cheesesteak. Sure I miss the "soup-nazi" style service at Pat's, but anyone who says these steaks aren't as good as half the sandwiches in PA is a mook.
Not bad! It has a NW taste to it.. OK, so I was not born in PA or in the Philadelphia area, but I was in the area a couple years back(2004) and I was only going to be able to go out one night for a cheese steak. The gentlemen that was driving asked us if we wanted to visit Pats or Genos or did we want to have the best cheese steak in town. Well we all wanted the best and he took us to a nice mom and pop place that had the most incredible cheese steak I have ever had. Phillys Cheese Steak is good but by no means is it comparable to an original cheese steak. First of all, I only needed one napkin to eat my sandwich and second it just was missing that added taste to the sandwich(which is probably why I only needed one napkin). All in all it was good, but definitely no the best.
Tasty cheesesteaks but inadequate. I like this place for a meal while watching some game. My only problem is that they don't put enough meat in the sandwich. How can they call themselves Philadelphia's if they don't put the amount of meat in that makes Philadephia the fattest city in the US? They do have the extra meat option, but a sandwich shouldn't cost $8, especially a sandwich that is a slice of middle-class Americana. The beer specials work well with the food, and the atmosphere is typical Ptown laid-back. If they took some consulting tips from Michael's on Burnside about sandwich proportions this place would really be something else.
Freshest & tastiest cheesesteaks around. Philly's is the best sandwich place in Portland, as far as I'm concerned. My friends and I crave this place on a regular basis. The rolls are soft and fresh and the flavoring is just right. They have many different styles to select from and the service is great too. If you go on Mondays, I believe they still have half prices sandwiches from 6-8pm and after that, they have beer specials until close. $2 off a pint?? Can't remember but I'm going there tonight to check it out!
