Portland >Reel M Inn
On Division Street sits Reel M Inn, the unbecoming answer to one of life's more challenging existential questions: Who has the best fried chicken and jojos?
Don't be surprised if you spot a few of Portland's top chefs at this lovable, kitsch-spattered Division Street dive, nursing a beer and perhaps a basket of the acclaimed fried chicken 'n jo-jos after a long night in the kitchen; it's a popular hangout for lots of the city's most discerning food folk. There are also a few tvs here and there, if you're less into chef-stalking and more into game-watching.
This beloved dive may just serve the best fried chicken in town. What better pairing with a marathon of basketball games than epic portions of fried chicken and jo-jo's (and six sauces to choose from)?
The chicken - WOW!. This place another classic PDX dive, with very friendly staff and some kickass fried chicken!! Delicious! They'll make it late just for you, and for $3.75 you can get 3 legs and jo-jo's. Look out, everything comes out of the pressure cooker at near plasma temperature, and it's very crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. I'll be back the next time I have the hankerin' for good fried chicken and assorted other foods, I'm there. Interesting mix of art in the men's room too...
