Portland >Bars & Clubs > Ship Ahoy Tavern
Terrible service. But only on a
Saturday or Sunday night. Anna (fairly certain that is her name, but she is the only female bartender that I have ever seen there) is rude, slow, mean, and indifferent. How is she the manager? The other bartenders are so much better, they are actually friendly and helpful.
I have had a bad experience with her every time that she has been behind the bar.
the latest one: I walked into Ship Ahoy and sat down at the bar. She glared while my friend and I chatted, wondering if she would come over to us or not. Finally we moved over to the well to order. Anna still ignored us while she finished her conversation with some guy at the bar. Then when she finally came over to inquire if I wanted a drink she had nothing but attitude. She was condescending and out right rude to me.
My friend even asked me to order for her because she did not want to deal with the horrible attitude of the bartender.
After I ordered, Anna lingered around chatting and opening beers for other people before starting our drinks.
I like this bar, but it's not worth it if Anna is bartending, you will end up being ignored and insulted.
Best Dive!. The Ship provides everything I ever wanted in a dive bar! Super friendly bartenders and regulars, very cheap drinks, pool, cigarette-burned tables! I like to sit outside at the picnic tables on a sunny day with the regulars and their dogs. If you live in the area and like dive bars you must check it out. Just don't plan on driving home!
