Editorial Review for Hattie's Vintage – by Ivy Manning

In Short
This boutique's vast collection of vintage wear is organized neatly from ceiling to floor in a dimly lit, light-colored funky, small space. The friendly staff easily navigates through the extensive selections, helping you find what you're looking for. The wide range of women's apparel--hanging on racks and on shelves--includes well-chosen pieces from the ruffled Victorian era to the polka-dotted '80s. Gents will find everything from '70s polyester suits to rugged-yet-chic cowboy apparel.

Ok, I have never written a review before so here it goes: First of all, I had the best experience shopping at Hatties the other day. I was desperate to find pieces of clothing to re-create the famous Swan Dress from the Oscars. (Recall Bjork in the white swan number!?) Of course not knowing what to expect, I called ahead and asked for 'help'! Right away this gal, Heather, was super responsive, could identify certain key wardrobe pieces that Hatties had in stock, plus she was eager & friendly to answer all my questions. She could identify with the dress, having at one time wished she had worn it to a costume party, too. I felt I had found a kindred spirit when I walked through the doors. Heather was a superb sales person, because she was creative, and flexible, and would even climb up a ladder to get an item from a display if I asked!! Honestly, I haven't had such a rewarding shopping experience like that in quite some time. I will definately recommend Hatties on E. Burnside to friends. Hatties' quality, pricing and selection seemed reasonable and fair to me, especially when I mentioned the store's merchandise and prices to others. I wish her the best of luck in the creative, competitive, and kooky world of Vintage.

Hattie's has consistently offered an incredible choice of interesting and genuine vintage clothes. Many of the items I have bought there over the years have become all time favorites and garner a lot of compliments. The inventory is extensive, which I find helpful, since it can be hard to strike it lucky with a tiny selection or limited era range. Instead of merely stocking the latest trendy clothes, Hattie seems very talented at finding unique things from the 20's to the 80's. Check it out. This is a fantastic shop! Take it from a treasure seeking fanatic.
