Portland >Purple Door Salon Spa
Luxurious Facial from Ruth @ Purple Door. My mom gets a regular facial from Ruth at Purple Door and raves about them. I treated myself to a facial after hearing her review and I just loved the relaxing time with Ruth and how my skin felt after. This was the best facial I've ever gotten and I'd recommend Ruth to any friend!
Great place. This place is great! I go to a gal named Whitney, she has been doing my nails for 2 years and i just love it! They have pedicure chairs that are super comfy.. and it is very clean..
Full of Win.
I've been coming to the Purple Door for 4 years now and have never had a bad experience. I frequently get brow waxes, nail services, pedicures and facials and just recently got a chemical peel that left my skin soft and smooth. All of the ladies at the Purple Door really care about your experience and going to visit Kelley and Ruth, in particular, is like going to spend an hour or two with a good friend - who just happens to deliver great spa services. Ruth, for instance, truly cares about your experience, making sure you are comfortable, always explaining what she's going to do, and ensuring she understands what products you use at home. She makes recommendations without being pushy at all, and always bends over backwards to make your experience pleasurable.
I can't imagine getting my nails done anywhere else - not a drill in sight - all hand filing. If you want the cheapo mani/pedi and to be in and out in 20 minutes that's fine, but don't come here. If care about having an experience with employees who want you to be satisfied and do their best to meet your needs, then come to the Purple Door.
I'll Happily Drive From Beaverton.
My sister turned me on to the Purple Door Nail Spa 10 1/2 years ago when I moved to Oregon. I lived in Portland at first, but now I live in Beaverton. Purple Door is not close to me, but I will happily drive out there to get a pedicure. I have looked around this area for a nail spa that is comparable with only semi-ok substitutes or incredibly condescending and rude patrons to be found. I love going to the Purple Door because everyone is super friendly, they do a great job, and I find their prices to be pretty reasonable and totally worth it. I am always happy with the results. If you're looking for a $20 pedi, go somewhere else, but you'll get what you pay for. The ladies at Purple Door are the best!
Ruth and Happy Skin. First of all, Ruth has a vey comfortable presence and has an impressive knowlege of skin and the quality products she uses. I have very sensitive skin and Ruth knows exactly what to do.She gives a very relaxing facial. Ruth is so great I want everyone to know! Just don't take my spot!
Pedicures for life. My first pedicure was just a couple of years ago and The Purple Door was the right place to go. But my respect for their professionalism increased last year after I had a hip replacement. Unable to reach my foot, I started coming in regularly for pedicures. All of the girls took wonderful care not to cause pain or problems getting in and out of that comfy chair. They made sure my leg was not bent beyond doctor's orders. And, of course, I received a wonderful pedicure (with that great salt rub) that seems to last forever. I will continue coming here for the foreseeable future. Donna
Professional Service All The Way. . .Everyday!.
One of the ways I treat myself is my monthly facial & manicure at Purple Door. The staff is so gracious & kind making it a pleasure to be in their company. The salon has a neighborhood feel to it yet the service is indeed "uptown". Ruth gives a thorough facial & the product line that she uses is very affordable for home use. Rondie is one of the lovely gals that does nails. She is a professional in all regards & her attention to detail is fantastic. Recommended without hesitation!
The nicest nail option in Portland. I've been going to Purple Door for over 10 years. Getting my nails done is one of the little luxuries I allow myself. Kelley has done a great job and it's easy to become friends w/ the gals that work there - they're a wonderful bunch. The pedicures there are the best, with comfortable massaging chairs and great jet tubs. Every time I try to get a pedicure somewhere else, I come away disappointed. They are a little pricier than other nail salons, but I don't worry about the cleanliness of their shop or procedures and there are no electronic drills whirring about making noise and burning my cuticles. I couldn't go anywhere else!
Fun, friendly atmosphere. I love this place! It wasn't crowded, the girls were nice and offered me a beverage while I soaked my feet in their beauiful pedicure room. I was able to enjoy my pedi in a secluded room that was very comfy!! The pedicure was the best pedi I have EVER had...and the polish lasted FOREVER!!
Not Worth It.
Yikes...where to begin.
First of all, the prices Purple Door charge are outrageous for the services they provide. No leg massage, no cuticle trimming, just paint on the nails. 32 bucks. What? Who do you people think you are? I wouldn't mind paying $32 dollars for a no-frills pedicure at Fred Segal in Los Angeles where it's really done well, but at some little shop in Sellwood? Come on.
And that pedicure? I hate to say it, because my nail specialist was so nice, but she really did a terrible job. The polish didn't even cover the entire nail. And as soon as she was "done" I was ushered straight out the door. Every other place I've had my nails done has had offered a small area where you can sit while your polish dries. Not at Purple Door. You're in, you're out, $32 (plus tip) lighter.
It's a real shame, because this is a cute little nail shop and just a few blocks from my house, but I will never return to Purple Door and highly recommend others beware. Even if my specialist was having an off day, Purple Door's services still aren't worth the prices they're charging for them. You can find plenty of better deals elsewhere in the city.
