McMenamins are just corporate capitalists, after all..... You know, I work there, And I LOVE my job, and I am not rude...........nor do I "roll my eyes" at customers. I resent that this broad brush has been used to paint all McMenamins staff. Just because they keep their labor costs WAAAAAAAAAAAy down (they are capitalists, after all) doesn't mean that some of us aren't trying our best. I do a great job, given the economic parameters we work under. You don't like it? Advocate for democratic socialism like the rest of the enlightened world.
Not so Hot Spot. This used to be the place to go to meet up after work on any given day of the week, but after so many times of not recieving the correct order, or not getting food all together...lousy service, surly service...really bad service...and rude waitstaff...We gave up and have moved on.
Suprisingly, the service is worse than I remember. We don't come here often enough to remember why we don't come here very often. None of the mcmenamins have particularly incredible food or service, and it seems like they have been getting worse over the years. This one seems to have the theme slow and forgetful. Or maybe there are just better places around? I think an $8 hamburger should knock my socks off. This one sadly doesn't and the beer isn't good either. Why do I keep coming back?
avoid st. johns pub. We visited St. John's Pub on Monday night (President's Day). I had always had good service there before, but my last visit was a disaster. It took ONE HOUR and TWENTY MINUTES to get our food - two burgers and an order of tots. While we amused ourselves with good cheer and good beer, the kitchen staff at this Mac's clearly does not have its act together. From now on, I will go to other places in NOPO. Like the ones that actually have parking and can get the orders out correctly, while the food is still hot!
Inconsistancy rules at all mcmenamins. The "danger" of going to any mcmenamins is the inconsistancy of the food and service! The beer is always great. But, from one day to the next the food and service wavers from good to terrible. I only go to a mcmenamins if I have already eaten or I know that I will not need to be anywhere anytime soon. It's too bad really, if they could get good consistant service they would BLOOM!!
Horrible, typical mcmenamins service. I love the St. Johns Pub. We go for dinner, drinks and movies. However, the service is CONSISTENTLY horrible. We choose not to go there anymore due to the horrible, rude, slow service. Mcmenamins have great concepts, but you can count on there always being bad service, primarily at St. Johns Pub.
Rustic and cozy, this McMenamins outpost in out-of-the-way St. Johns is a family-friendly pub..
In Short
Once a church, the whimsically shabby pub features a lovely outdoor beer garden and a movie theater. Guests relax under colored glass windows in the lower level, or climb the worn steps to upstairs lounge, which features armchairs, couches and boardgames. The vaulted space of the church's dome is now an intimate movie theater with comfy seats. There's solid pub fare--including a kid's menu--and McMenamins' proprietary brews, including beer, wine and coffee they roast themselves.
