Best Kept Secrect. Wow, This place is great! The Service, the food, and the drinks. I eat out alot and this place is always great. Also one of the best liquor selections in town. Cocktails are made with fresh fruit squeezed to order. I have always had a "friendly" pour from the bartenders. Its also nice that they offer free parking which is a big plus for downtown.
A TOTAL WINNER. I went there for a business dinner and loved it! My clients did as well. Best selection of Seafood I have ever seen. I tried the one on the Water Front prior to this. "go for the view not the food or service, it sucks". However the one on 2nd & Oak was wonderfull.(Free Parking Big Plus) We loved the oyster selection and the service was perfect. Our server Roslyn gave the best service hands down I have ever had in a restaurant! I went again the a second night and had just as wonder full as a time and Brian our server again was outstanding and had very amazing wine knowlege. Ask for one of these servers when you go you wont be let down. Oh and try the stergeon dish "WOW"
A trusted favorite. We can always count on great food and service at M&S. We took recent out-of-town clients for dinner. They liked the idea of eating at the FIRST M&S. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the staff was respectful and very professional. We had a very productive business meal. We prefer this location to other nearby M&S restaurants. It's quieter.
I love them!. I love eating at this restaurant. They always treat me well, and being a person who goes to many restaurants around downtown, I think that they are one of the top! Thanks! :)
One of our favorites. Convenient (right on MAX line for us eastsiders) and food is consistently fine. Love the razor clams and we adore the crab cakes. We always reserve a window booth - it's cozy and the wine and service is tops. Had the sturgeon a while back - cooked perfectly.
Veterans. The reason we chose to eat here is that three in our party were veterans and this wonderful place was honoring all vets on Veterans Day with a free meal! We WILL return and we would like to COMMEND them for honoring those who served their country. I can't tell you how good it made our guys feel! The waiter was so fast when I'd ask him for something, it was amazing. It was also our anniversary and my husbands birthday and they were very gracious despite all the hubbub already to give us free desserts! The ambience was just wonderful...a lot of wood paneling and you really felt you had privacy somehow.
Worst happy hour in town. I had read somewhere that this was the best happy hour in town. It isn't. There is very limited seating and service. It would be OK if you were just going to meet another friend, but if you are going in a group forget it.
Hospitality. I read some of the reviews before going and was expecting an average experience. However the whole 36 species of different seafood caught me attention. Honestly I was treated great the food was classic and taditional. My service was just as good or in some cases better than what I got at places like the Portland City Grill. I say death to the Pearl District pastry wrapped crap. And wrapp your appetite around a restaurant that serves more than 6 to 8 entrees. This place is great!!!!
not up to expectations. Coming from Texas, we looked forward to great NW seafood and service expected of M&S. But my Hallibut cheeks came out luke warm, not too tasty and my wife's salmon was as dry as Klamath River. But some of our group were pleased.
Great Food, Not So Good Service. Had an excellent steak here but couldn't finish it all. Asked to take my leftovers to go (there were a lot) and for some reason the waiter left out all my garlic mashed potatoes and yummy veges. Very bummed. They seemed pretty rushed late @ night--we were just another number.
