This place is another great happy hour joint. I've had a decent gyro, and sauteed spinach for cheap. The place is enormous and gets a little fratty on the weekends. If there is a show on the weekends the crowd will bleed into the bar and it will get packed and ordering a drink may take a while. It is a decent venue to see a show

It is true you never know what to expect. Sometimes a waitperson comes right over, sometimes it takes awhile. If you need attention right away, just go to the bar and order. It is not traditional like a sit-down restaurant, it is a bar and you may need to inititate contact if you mind waiting. The food is excellent though. It is very affordable. They have amazing pizzas with great, fresh ingredients. They have a pretty good little steak that comes with amazing potatoes and onion rings (ask for sweet chili sauce) for $6!! You can't beat that. I always eat here before I see a show. It's a fun, noisy environment that is in no way threathing. Take a moment to explore the rotating art on the walls. Pool tables, a big screen tv, lotto games, live music in the attached venue, more. I think this is an all around great place with many services. Even a good ol' ciggerette machine to keep the smokers smokin'. Definitely a Portland staple.

You never quite know what kind of experience you'll get at Berbati's. One time I had a wonderful waitress with tasty happy hour appetizers. The next time, I sat at a table for 20 minutes with no service and had to initiate a stare-down with the staff to get a beer. The food this time was a real disappointment. $4 for a sandwich sounded like a good deal - but in reality, $4 for a wonderbread sandwich is a total rip off.
