Waited a while for our food.. I went to the Lotus for lunch with some people from work and we waited an hour for our lunch. By the time we got it, we had to order it to go and take it back to our desks to eat. The service wasn't too great and our waitress wasn't very friendly. We sat in the back and it felt like we were sitting outside, it was so cold. Apparently everybody else was having issues because I heard the waitress say to a few other people "Sorry, it won't happen again."

The food was delicious, though - so I guess it was worth the wait. Decent prices, too.

The Lotus Cardroom & Cafe. The Lotus is a great lunch time place to go. Fast service, Great food and great for the business man around the area. The are really bringing the service up, and they recently replaced all of the outdoor furniture. Really nice, and brings the par level up. I even heard from the service staff that they are changing up the menu with some great vegetarian items, and adding linnens to the tables. If you come in for lunch a reservation is recommended, if you want the fast in and out. Happy hour is great, with the 20+ to 30 something crowd. They have been doing some great promotions, espically the fish bowl satudays. What else can you ask for taking a girls night out and get a 64oz drink that everyone can share.....

Consistently good food and service. I often stop by the Lotus for lunch and have never had a bad dining experience. When I am in a hurry, the wait staff is quick to bring my food & tab so that I can be on my way. When I want to eat at a more leisurely pace, the wait staff notices and does not pester with questions of desserts and to go boxes. My order has never been wrong or lost, and there is always something interesting on the specials board. Kepp up the good work - i'll be back with friends!

Fun ambience, great burgers!. A great place for lunch -- provided you plan ahead to avoid the noon-1:00 rush. Good menu and wonderful burgers. I've been there several times in the past year and found the service to be inconsistent, better before and after the lunch rush. Prices are very fair.

worst service in the world!!!!!. I just moved to portland, me and my girlfriend decide to hang out downtown on a saturday afternoon, decide to have dinner and a couple of drinks, we stumble into the lotus cafe, for ten minutes we sat without being acknowleged and we finally left, I will never go back to this dump.

After work drinks. For after work drinks, The Lotus is a great place to go. The bartender Christian that works on Thursday and Fridays during happy hour is the best bartender I have seen. You'll never have to wait for a drink while you are there, he is always on it and keeping an eye on what each table needs. Food is good for bar food standards. FAT TUESDAYS ARE ALWAYS A BLAST!!!!!

A steady steam of college coeds filters in for cheap eats and a variety of suds.. In Short
What once served as an unofficial home to hordes of hookers and pushers attracts mostly shiny, happy, college-aged people. Thanks to its high ceilings, serious-looking bar and vintage metal signs covering the walls, the Lotus' decor still radiates that tough Old Town feel. Check out this place on weekdays for its inexpensive food, full bar and beer, including a good selection of regional microbrews. Weekends get riotous here when DJs spin the dance tunes.

Its Ok.... Ive been here a couple of times..Its a nice low key place to go after work, or if you wanna go shoot some pool...(its free on Sundays) The Happy hour is excellent with food from 2-5 dollars. They make a good Long Island but its in a little glass. You can go somewhere else and get a bigger glass for the same price.

Mandy is the greatest!. My co-workers and I frequent this bar almost on a daily basis due to the fact that Mandy the bartender is employed there. She is always friendly and provides exceptional service in addition to playing whatever music you request. She prepares the best mixed drinks I have ever had in Portland and does so with a smile. I highly recommend the Car Bombs, Bloody Mary, and well Rum-in-Cokes because those are her specialty. Lotus is always a place to go for a good time, cheap eats,and great tunes.

Mardi Gras -. Great crowd. I must say I wasn't sure about the live band at the begining of the evening, but it got better and better as the night went by. Awesome crowd.
